You can vault me again if you like - I've said before that I won't criticise Moyes for losing a final, but I will criticise him for not even getting to a final in the first place. A final is a one off game and a win or a loss doesn't actually matter as at least he's had the bottle and consistency to get there in the first place.

Why don't we just confront the elephant in the room (not you Goat).

The sad fact is that we as a club will never see a consistent improvement above what we currently have without more money. No manager will get us the success we crave with £1.5m per year to spend, it's just not going to happen.

We might win a cup, but it's a big risk getting rid of a manager who brought you out of the relegation zone and has kept you out for 10 years just on the off chance.

Its not an Elephant I think Ive mentioned it about 14 times.

So credentials of a new manager:

Have an excellent eye for a player at a bargain price because they wont have any money to play with

Be a superb tactician

Go for it in big games

Lock up shop when we are winning

Anything else?

I don't think the fans harbour expectations above their stations. The club struggled badly from 1992-2002, but those ten years aside Everton have always been competitive, and even during that terrible spell there was a major trophy.

Whether or not this team would have been good enough to win at Wembley is irrelevant. There's no excuse not to try.

As much as I despise him, I have to give Kenwright credit for an impressive ability to manipulate thousands of people. This is now a club with a thoroughly small-time mentality.

If we keep moyes we will probably keep finishing around 7th which as people say is a reasonable position for our spend. But if he does re sign the only Everton I will watch is the motd highlights. I will not be renewing and sitting through his dross football anymore.

That old chestnut. Tell me how many teams genuinely play attractive football in the league?

People wax lyrical about the likes of Swansea but I've seen them play some dour stuff. I can see the type of football Moyes wants to play (look at the opening weeks of this season) but it's just not always possible.

I said I will be watching it next season on motd if he is still here. I have put a lot of money into this club and still do. About 3 half seasons in eleven years says it all.

Not sure what you mean mate. All I know is that there's enough of an established pattern to be able to say with a good degree of certainty that Moyes is not a "winner" when the big occasions roll around, no matter who the opposition are.

Unless you mean every cup game is a one off game - in that case, of course they are, but we all know that certain cup games have much more riding on them than others. When you see the finish line, the pressure increases and the good managers get the best from their sides. Moyes has only done twice really - Liverpool with the Gosling goal, and United with the win on pens. Two games in eleven years where I can say "yeah, his side has turned up when it matters."

That's nowhere near good enough.

This is the problem- people want something, anything. Consistently getting 6th/7th is boring. We need to do something different- even being in a relegation fight because that is exciting right? Do me a favour

Well I really think we will get that opportunity next season to see- I really hope it works out but I cant forget the clueless Walter Smith or pathetic Mike Walker.

Thing is mate, you're suggesting that's an impossible mix to achieve, but Michael Laudrup (who I don't actually really rate) has managed all the above in one season.

The longer a manager has in a job, the better his chances of succeeding are. If you put a semi-decent manager in the Everton role and give him five years, he'll do well. And I know that to be the case because that's all Moyes is - a semi-decent overall manager.

There's nothing to fear from our next appointment.

6th - 7th is decent. Very decent when our other factors are taken into account.
