Our remaining games (based on current form):

Reading (H)- They've lost 5 out of their last 6 away games. Win
Wigan (H)- They've won well at Villa and Reading. We should be able to edge it though. Win
City (H)- Southampton and Sunderland have beaten them and QPR held them. Draw
Stoke (H)- Only scored once in their last 6 away matches, losing 4 of them. Win
Spurs (A)- Stoke and United were the only teams to avoid defeat at the Lane recently. Lose.
QPR (H)- 3 draws on their recent travels. Draw
Arsenal (A)- City have won at the Emirates and Liverpool made a draw. Draw
Sunderland (A)- Spurs and Arsenal both managed wins at the Stadium of Light. Draw
Fulham (H)- Besides their win at West Brom Fulham have only scored once on their travels. Win
Liverpool (A)- Villa and West Brom have taken all three points from Anfield. Draw
West Ham (H)- The Hammers have lost 5 and drawn 1 of their last 6 away games. Win
Chelsea (A)- Their home form has fluctuated from 8-0 against Villa to 0-1 versus QPR. Draw

18 more points (from 33) would leave us on 60. We've taken 1.55 points per game so far and that would need to increase to 1.63. That would have got us to 7th last year 4 points behind Chelsea but also 4 points better off than last season's total. Newcastle aren't in the race this year, so 6th would seem likely.

Last year we scored 50 goals (we're currently on 41) and we conceded 40 (34). Our record was W15 D11 L12 compared to W10 D12 L5 to date. If my predictions are true it would leave us W14 D18 L6. The obvious problem is that we would have drawn 47% of our games. At the moment it stands at 44%.

If we want top 6 we will have to collect around 22 pts. from now until the end of the season imo. 30 pts. if you want to even start thinking about the possibility of 4th.

4th and 5th place has gone.

we just need to go for 6th, and say its an improvement from last season.

yep and to reach the final of the cup. suppose it would be considered a minor success, but could have been better with regards to league position. Ah well, can't dwell on our transfer failures. I'll be surprised if we get as much as 18 pts from those games and i've given up on predicting because we always seem to fall much lower than expectations. Whilst 5th is still there, there's nothing wrong with still aiming for it - but in a few weeks it could well be all over.

yeah agreed, we should always aim for the highest we can, Unless Bale gets injured, we wont catch Spurs. Arsenal tho, its possible, we have to keep a eye on the RS now too they are only 3 points behind us.

after the norwich game, i finally agreed with this statement. wasn't thinking about them at all through the season. let's not forget WBA either as they are currently ahead of RS and lukaku is getting better every week

This weekend's set of fixtures in the Premier League marks the 800th game for the seven clubs who have been ever-present in the league since its inception in 1992.

The Premier League website has provided an all-time table of the previous 799 fixtures. Unsurprisingly, Manchester United top the table with 522 wins and just 112 defeats, scoring 1605 goals in the process. Everton are bottom, having amassed 655 points less than United over the 21 years.

Chelsea's season could fall apart. We're 7 points behind them at the moment. If we beat Reading and West Brom repeat what they did at Anfield at Stamford Bridge the gap would close to 4. Benitez's team must travel to Southampton (conquerors of Arsenal and City), Liverpool and United as well as facing Spurs, Swansea and us at their place. I can't see top 4 but 5th and a Europa League place might be a possibility.

Drawing 44% of games is far too much. If we'd gone for it and won 6 and lost 6 of the matches we'd have 50% more points! I appreciate that you can't afford to lose too many games but we could go 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 more often without leaving ourselves open at the back.

agreed all over, we set up not to lose. playing a defensive midfielder like neville in home games vs norwich is not necessary. need more attacking options on the pitch than that
