only soton and QPR did we not truly deserve to win as well

I agree it's a bit silly and is another example of Moyes's inflexibility, but at the same time I have sympathy with the fact that he's asking relatively inexpensive strikers to play a role that's usually played by some of the world's most expensive. In that respect I don't think it's any surprise that Yakubu was the best at it for us given his price.

Whether or not Jelavic works more outside the box or out wide this season compared to last I think is negligible. I don't see a huge difference there, I do however see a difference in the amount of chances he's needing to score a goal.

i've seen him many times with the ball on the left wing for example. and then he'll whip it into the box where he should be standing. tbh, jelavic, just shouldn't listen to moyes and just barely move from the area. can you imagine moyes trying to manager berbatov? oh my days.

jelavic is just adding to the list of goalscorers we've bought that suffer moyes training imo. would have had the same effect on beckford had we not sold him and the yakubus and johnson's previous

Thats nothing new though unfortunatly. Most seasons we probably pick up just as many points against the top 6 than we do against the bottom 6, cetainly not the big difference you might expect.

Its been an ongoing problem with numerous reasons for why it happens being thrown out on here. But whats certain is while Moyes deserves credit for making us a team good enough to match teams above us, it rankles when he regularly has us dropping points to teams worse than us.

They probably spend more money than us or something lolz.

13 games to go. 42 pts currently 39pts to play for. I think we need roughly 25pys to be in with a shout at the end of the season

.....so near, yet so far. Watching Bentecke at the weekend I couldn't help think what a difference he would make. We need somebody to catapult us into the top places but unfortunately we missed the opportunity in the transfer window.

yep, same last season it's just it's hurting us more this season. obviously it's a lot tougher playing a team like newcastle or swansea who come and settle for a point, but it doesn't help when our manager doesn't mix things up. I mean in games like this, is neville needed? would there be any harm in playing fellaini next to osman with maybe two up top or another attacking midfielder? With gibson it's a bit different because he plays some great through balls etc and is not purely an deep sitting defensive mid. but still, i think we need to set up more attacking from the off in such games, sadly it seems like moyes is incapable of even trying something different to rectify this. As long as we're in that top 6, these lesser teams are always going to come here purely for 1 point. sadly, individual errors seem to be capitalised at every opportunity with regards to this season and cancel out all our attacking play hence loads of draws

yep. if we sell felli in the summer i'd love us to go for benteke/negredo (if we believe we can get him) for about £15m. benteke is only 21 and has that sence that he's a big game player. he'll be a £30m forward in the future.

he just wants everyone to be marcus bent imo, but that's not what we need at this point in time. we need jelavic who stands in the 6 yard box and does sweet FA all game and then the ball drops to him in the 92nd min and he wins the game vs spurs. van nistlerooy was a great poacher, i wouldn't waste my time telling him to run the channels, i'd tell him to stay in that box and grab me 30 goals a season because that is what wins you games and titles.

I know moyes was a defender, but he's also suppose to be a top manager, surely he knows when he's bought a £5m striker, that's what he's bought, not this £30m superstar who's going to get bucketloads of goals as well as assists. so many times i've seen pienaar pass the ball to jelavic on the left touchline and we have nowhere to go. he's made the same mistake over and over again with virtually every striker he's worked with.

It's grim how often that happens.

Liverpool v Spurs could be an awkward game.

If Spurs win then it makes it harder for us get 4th, but if Liverpool win then it's very possible the bels could catch us. While we've got United and Norwich away they've got West Brom and Swansea at home, and when they play Spurs at home we've got Arsenal away.

We really need to pull it out of the bag and win at OT or the Emirates to keep that lot at bay.
