You can piss away cash to that extent on agents fees when you're backed by a Sheik or an Oligarch, or even if you're not, as long as you're in the Champions League.

But not when you're owned by nervous, cost-conscious Americans as part of their multiple sports club portfolio of investments.

No wonder they put a kibosh on Rodgers' spending, the Fenway Sports accountant probably fainted when he saw how much Dalglish had been wasting.

The days of big bonuses supplementing wages have gone really , the last club to really take advantage of it were Arsenal but now even with them its become simply a wage supplement. The likes of stoke are very structured with only a couple of players on the likes of £40k the rest around and about £25k , obviously signing on fees and clever use of bonuses make those wages up. For all their average (at best) football as a club they've got their finances in order.

Liverpool putting average players on ridiculous contracts means that the likes of sterling wants his share of the cake and like I and others have said who can blame him ? They reap as they sow.

Sheeds, this is not important and a complete aside from the thread but do you know how clubs account for the non-wage payments such as signing on fees? Are they attributed to wages or transfer fees or somewhere else?

I ask because what you have described can make Stoke seem to have a low wage bill when in fact it is pretty similar to other clubs if you take into account signing on fees.

Hes not even that good, yes, he looks good at the moment, but its the same with all players who breakthru, as soon as people realise which foot to show him on to or whatever it takes, he will dissapear back to the Reserves.
