20th October 1984, Graeme Sharp's goal of the season against the Reds. Let's have a drink to that masterpiece and hope for another victory next week. "Everton are magic, Liverpool are tragic"

Wow, 28 years ago.

I was in the mainstand and had some words with Johnny Ball at halftime, as he departed with Zoe in tow I shouted "Think of a number Johnny", he replied "seven" "WRONG...........2" with 2 raised to him. Zoe blushed.

You were in the Mainstand???

How the **** did you manage to get a ticket for there??? What with the waiting list an all...................

I was in Cardiff on a sales course, I'd moved to the midlands in the early 80s partly to avoid the ogre of liverpools 70s domination which still lingered I'd deliberately cut myself off from the club because it was doing me in.

After the conference I switched the news on in my hotel room fully expecting the "usual". As the commentator painted a picture of what had happened the beauty of the goal, the bedlam of the fans. it was like an out of body experience the only thing I can compare it to was Winston Churchill's description of redemption when the USA agreed to join the fight against the nazis.

When I read of Blues saying they don't care what liverpool do I know they weren't around in those times, I know Sharpie gets stick for toeing the club line but I'll forgive him anything for that moment.

Wonderful stuff, it signalled the beginning of our period of dominance. Brings a lump to my throat watching that video again - used to have it as my screensaver at work. Love 1) the way Lawro looks absolutely stunned at being done like a kipper and 2) yer man in the green anorak and specs running on to the pitch in total euphoria. Anyone on here ?
