Naismith? Thoughts?

At the moment all I am seeing is a Stuart Barlow clone. Will give him time though.

I am still waiting to see what he 'has' - if you know what I mean.

He is just back after missing almost a complete season through injury,at the same time he has to regain full fitness and adapt to huge step in the standard of football compared to what he was playing in Scotland.
I don't think we should even consider judging him until after Christmas.

Baines played some **** games for us early on and people said he wasn't worth it.
Jagielka played some **** games for us early on and people said he wasn't worth it.
Fellaini played some **** games for us early on and people said he wasn't worth it.
Heitinga played some **** games for us early on and people said he wasn't worth it.

You know what - I'm gonna give this decision a few more games.....

He was truly woeful against Leeds but then so were most. He has impressed me in other games so I won't be so quick as to dismiss his entire Everton career on the basis of 65 awful minutes. You could tell he knew himself it was way below the level he is capable of.

BINGO !!!

Evertonians piss me off with their short memories.

Everyone was singing his praises in preseason when he was playing well.

What the hell is it with Evertonians and Everton players having a ****e game? All of a sudden, they turn into the worst players in the world. Do any other clubs' supporters pull this sort of ****e?

Yeah, some smart ass will say "Yeah Bill, he wasn't that good." Yeah? And he isn't that bad either. But Evertonians expect their players to be world beaters EVERY FREAKING MATCH. Get a grip and go have a word with yourselves.

Players have bad matches. It happens. Get over it !!!

Leeds absolutely obliterated the entire Everton side. The only player that played well was Pienaar and that's because he is so good at drawing fouls.

Some bloke on Toffeeweb even said Junior is the worst player Everton have ever had! This is after one game in English football at Elland Road against a Leeds side desperate to head through brick walls. And the same goes for Naismith, yes he gave away a sloppy pass and missed a sitter. But he was playing in a side that was overall very poor.

You can't hang single players out when most of the team were poor on the night.

I've always found him to be extremely limited, bordering on crap, and I will maintain this viewpoint until I see any different.

I know lots were impressed by his hat-trick in a friendly in which even Tony Hibbert managed to score, but I've still yet to see anything that makes me think he will make any bigger impact than the likes of Coleman.

Vic still gets **** despite being on fire for 9 months, but I can tell right now that Naismith will be given loads of time and opportunities to impress without ultimately doing so. It won't be long until people are making excuses for his crap football through arguing that he is playing in the wrong position, and people start making out that he is absolutely immense in the position which he never plays in.

For anyone who thinks I'm basing my decision on a handful of games, I'm not. I've been seeing him play for years and even in the SPL, I always though of him as extremely limited.

...and he may very well be. I've seen him have one really poor match and that was against Leeds. I'd like to give him just a bit more time though.

True he was awful v Leeds why select a player who has dodgy knees on a sodden pitch ? the rest of the team bar a few were well below par also - the header on the backpost he missed was so crucial at the stage of the game - he has had other good games for us - he looks a tidy utility player but he has to forget the Leeds game like most of us!

These threads do my head in.

2 things

1. The lad has the football intelligence in his play to cope with the PL.
2. The pace and physicality of the league is slightly ahead of were he needs to be at this time, BUT TIME and goals will sort that out.

The lad needs a season in the league before we start creating sad threads like this.
