Dominic Calvert-Lewin watch

He was crap for us for the last 5 seasons. It would be like selling McNeil and him assisting or scoring in 7 or 8 games in a row would we all be crying for him to come back and say he's brilliant? No because he's also been crap for us just like DCL was

The club and the player both needed to part ways. Glad to see he’s scoring and finding his way. Good on him.
Absolutely spot on, he had a similar scoring spell for us, five years ago, since then there are multiple reasons why it was never replicated and we needed to move on and so did he. He's having a good period and good on him. The really issue is our complete dereliction of duty in recruitment to adequately replace him.

The mistake by Everton wasn't letting Dom leave (he probably wanted to leave anyway)

The problem was replacing him with two rubbish strikers at a cost of over 50m

It's all about recruitment and we have a shambolic recruitment policy that has failed over many years.

The mistake was letting him leave rather than just paying the wage he could get elsewhere if he left.

He's 28. This is who we've signed since Lukaku over a decade ago.

Broja
Sandro Ramírez
Enner Valencia
Thierno Barry
Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Samuel Eto’o
Chermiti
Josh King
Cenk Tosun
Oumar Niasse
Beto
Neal Maupay
Salomon Rondon
Moise Kean
Arouna Kone

Everton needed to sign actual full backs, some pace out wide and instruct the number 9 stay upfront an central.

Since Moshiri we've been experts at setting players up to fail.

Totally agree. Does my head in that our fan base constantly say we need a proper striker. We could have Haaland in our team and he’d look pony.

Summer priorities should be two modern full backs. We badly lack pace throughout the team, especially in the middle of midfield. Need pace, strength and power in central midfield. Those 3 positions should be a priority in the summer.

I think you've just proven the point about terrible recruitment!

Offering 100k a week to someone who was injured most of the time would have been incredibly risky and not something I would have done

It's a cope.

Some people understand football.

You keep Calvert-Lewin fit and play to his strengths and hes 10x the footballer Beto is. Pretty much same age too.
And yet for four years on massive wages he didn't turn up and Beto scored more league goals in half a season then Dom managed.

All his performances are making clear now is that it was just simply because he wasn't bothered and clearly felt comfortable coasting.

Is it not massively obvious as you watch him score more for recently promoted Leeds?

Think of how many relegation battles and PSR problems we could have avoided if he had bothered to do his job for us.
Not remotely the same. Lumping it up from the back to an isolated forward out wide being asked to hold it up and draw a foul is not how you get any striker to score. Sorry I am just 100 miles away from your view.

Thats over a decades recruitment.

Replacing a striker who is capable of a benchmark of goals evidently isn't easy.

I understand why Moyes/Everton let him go, but personally, as I was vocal - Id have kept him and paid the wage he knew he'd get as a free agent elsewhere.

He missed loads of chances in the box. Can we stop pretending otherwise please.

He consistently was the worst performing striker in the league while he was here for the last four seasons.

A LOT of that is on him. These performances for Leeds are showing that.
