2025/26 David Moyes

Today was a clear and eye opening look again of how the likes of...

...Alcaraz have gone from being super confident and providing the xfactor in games, to Dibling who is an exciting attacking player that likes to take players on...

Have had their confidence shot.

There were no clear patterns of attacking play nor consistently any players pressing together as a unit.

They looked like strangers.
Charly has one good asset to his game other than that he shows glaring holes in his actual ability, he cant take the ball back to goal, or transition play once he has had to much time to think.

You can see that Moyes has spoken to him, because once back to goal, he looks straight back to pickford. His passing range is below sub par.
He is good tho when it's direct, face to goal and less time to think.

Without Illy moving us up the pitch and KDH stamping a foothold in the middle with Garner, which inturn wakens Jack up, we are not a great front footed team.

Look at the obvious signs of missing 2 massive players, rather than scraping the barrell for holes to pick

I think we just played Arsenal. Im not sure I would put too much on one match, and would probably wait for a few more before reading much into it.

Hes just changing as he gets older, like a very careful OAP who doesnt like taking risks

I’ve never understood that …

When you’re young and have years ahead you take risks … some drive fast, drink drive , sky dive etc knowing if anything bad happens you’ve 50 more years to live .

But when they get old and have less time lift they start being safe …

Moyes doesn’t have that many more years in management , you’d think he’d start taking risks , changing his style … try to win something … not keep doing the same think he’s been doing for 20 years that has earned him one of the worst records against top 4 teams in prem history

Unreal this feller has been handed two more years with us.

It's like a dead weight on the club's outlook.

The feller makes everything to do with football - which should be joyous - bleak and a grind

Dave??????

Are you criticising him for making thinks “bleak and a grind”

That is pot kettle black don’t you think ?

Keep your aggression to yourself - and your juvenile middle fingers. Relegation battles are a thing of the past because we are now under competent ownership that backs managers. But feel free to keep sucking on the Moyes teat if it pacifies you and keeps that nasty aggression under control...
Whatever sweetie.

….so, the realisation that he picks players on merit is dawning with some.

The clamour to use Moyes as the excuse for not ‘giving a run’ to Alcaraz and ‘not playing Dibling’ is giving way to reality that he’s pretty much identified our best starting X1 and beyond that we’re a bit low on quality. Still, we just about remained in the game last night and only for two penalty incidents in either box, he might have even got us a draw.

I read yesterday that in his first spell Moyes gave debuts to 13 teenagers, amongst them some of the youngest in the clubs history. Hardly a reluctance to play youngsters.

Saying that, it’s reasonable to assess the summer transfer business at Christmas and it’s not looking good. Dibling, Barry, Rohl and Aznou have been very disappointing, I don’t think we can argue any different. The best part of £100m spunked is nothing short of scandalous.

As somebody who was openly critical of Thelwell, I’m not blindly supporting Moyes’ on this front. He generally gets it right when he selects his team but he has to be accountable for sanctioning some dreadful transfers. We know what it’s like paying extraordinary money for ordinary players, they become a millstone for many years and it looks like we have a new tranche.

24 points at Christmas is decent, but £100m on ineffective players can’t be swept under the carpet.
