2025/26 David Moyes

I don't think we're actually disagreeing. I think we are about where we should be - but I think we can be there while putting more emphasis on attack in games such as tonight's. That was a craven defensive performance with no redeeeming feature. Been happier if we lost 2-0 having a go.
I'd rather we plod along and not lose confidence getting a battering. I know that's boring and miserable, but I just want a boring and miserable season and some stability, just a breather for a year. I don't want Moyes here next season.

Fair enough. I understand that argument.

But honestly, I've had my fill of Moyes. His horizons are too narrow. He'll competently do his thing and we'll all fall asleep as he does. Life's too short and we are no longer on life support. We can take a bit more of a risk come summer...

Mcneil was completely ineffective once again so he has to come up with a solution. He signed off on a 35m player who is getting splinters and looks nothing like what is required (and blatantly wasn't required in the summer) but if hes not the solution and Mcneil certainly isnt the solution, Moyes needs to get his thinking cap on.

35m players sitting on the bench is simply unacceptable in the position we've found ourselves in. He also signed off on Barry who looks just as useless as Beto.

Tonight just showed that our transfer business bar KDH and Grealish was absolitely shocking by all concerned.

….you can certainly blame him for bringing Dibling in but I think it’s a toss-up whether he plays or McNeil. It’s a bit like the Harrison/Lindstrom and even Barry/Beto conundrum, either option isn’t very good.

I can see why McNeil gets the nod but not something I’d die in a ditch over. Hopefully it’s Dibling’s turn next time, at least we live in hope he’s the next superstar.

Moyes doesn't take risks. Not in his game-plan, not with trying young talent, not with opening up a game when behind. Just never.

He did a terrific job last year and will probably do enough to have us a comfortable season. But I would love to see a manager at the helm who has a positive game-plan. Fluid, attacking football. We have seen quite some managers like that the past few years at midtable teams so why can't we get one and build from there?

Today would've been a tough game regardless of what he did but going into it just doing like for like changes to his normal set up was very uninspired and got the kind of performance I'd expect. Ndiaye and KDH have been two of our main sources of goalscoring and attacking play this season, you can't just replace them with two players who have do nothing of the sort this season and just say play the same way and expect any attacking output, especially against Arsenal.

We're likely to be a month without either of those players. Surely he can't see what he saw today and think that'll work till they get back even against worse sides than Arsenal.

we’re on a build.

no quick fix
No fix with Moyes. His transfer dealings in the summer have been largely disastrous. Two hits out of six. Angus's percentage failure rate is spot on (KDH and Grealish v Barry, Aznou, Dibling, and Rohl).

Need a change to the transfer committee. Angus won't be going anywhere...

It never is mate. Ever since the 90s we seem to be in situations like these once a handful of years.

The problem is stability only gets you so far, the club needs to look at substantial progress over the next couple of years because we will simply find ourselves in the same position or worse.

Like the manager said in the summer, without European footy it’s even more difficult to attract much better players and there is a chance that is exactly where we will be again this summer.

The issue is, it shouldn't be Barry/Beto or Harrison/Lindstrom conundrum eggs. He's signed off on Barry and Dibling and that's 62m worth of players that have contributed 1 goal and 0 assists. Its not good enough, it's not acceptable because we cant afford to spunk money on rank average players who dont fit how we want to play as it isnt 2017 anymore where we can waste money and then suffer for the next 8 years.

Its shocking recruitment and Moyes has played a huge part of that.
