January Transfer Window 2026

We aren't going down.

We aren't qualifying for Europe.

We're out the cup we had most chance of winning.

Unless circumstance dictates a long term target is available - I'd knock this window on the head.

Maybe a cheap loan.

No point signing Cenk Tosun and Theo Walcotts again.
Far too sensible post for this thread.
Bit of a schoolboy error from the boss man me thinks.

Any examples?

Oh I’m a DCL fanboy mate, not sure we had the option to keep him
It's difficult to say really, partly because i'm not sat at games with a little notebook to rate players so that I can refer back to it months later and partly because what I'm talking about is a general concept rather than a a comment on specific performances. Ollie Watkins, as an example, didn't stand out against us, but undoubtedly is a player who has some of the qualities i'm talking about. Him not finding that half yard of space to get a shot away in an individual game against us doesn't in any way detract from the fact that it's an ability he has. As of yet, I'm not sure what Barry offers that makes him a difficult opponent for defenders; I think quite a lot of centre halves have probably found him pretty easy to handle this year and so I don't think it's a huge stretch to say that somebody you couldn't say that about may actually make a little bit more of a difference to our attacking play than some people seem to want to admit. Again, that's not to say he's a dud or we need to go and replace him, just a comment related to the conversation being had.

he would not sign his contract = end of .... best of luck to him .....

He is playing & scoring ATM....... plus we have a ready made midfielder in HA on loan at Preston - who is fit ... Rohi just google him & see his playing games record ..... I feel he will be returned .....
He scored 2 goals against Celtic. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. He has 1 goal in 10 in the league.

We have bought Rohl. He won’t be returned.

Talk about using stats to fit your arguement. Barrys xG is not relevant to a new striker. His xG is part of the problem, his inability to get in the right position to create opportunities to score is the problem. A better striker would thus have a higher xG and more goals...... Still dont think we will sign one in Jan unless Beto goes to Italy
To a degree, you're absolutely right that better strikers usually get more xG, but he has 0.3 non-penalty xG per 90 which is a touch above average for forwards in the league (same as Woltemade, Watkins, Thiago). Let's say a hugely expensive upgrade is to a player who's the quality of Ekitike or Gyokeres who have...0.4 per 90.
