Everton Youth Teams Thread

I was delighted with tonight's attendance for an under-21 match on a cold Wednesday night. We were never really in the game, except for the closing stages of the second half when we had two excellent chances but were unable to dispatch either of them. My man of the match was Pickford, yet Tamen also had a decent game besides conceding the penalty.

….yeh, I like Tamen so glad to see he had a solid game.

That’s good pace and another terrific cross from Finney, he’s a decent size, very athletic and certainly got something about him.

What's our converserion rate of youth players who have had England/other int call ups into "valuable assets" (ie first team/suqad players, players sold for decent money, left for better pathway and reached/on way PL level)?

It’s probably a better ratio than we think. Limiting it to England youth ranks the last few I can think of are:

Anthony Gordon - PL level, sold for profit
Onyango - miss
Dobbin - definitely not PL level but sold for profit
Campbell - looking like a miss
Dixon - TBD
Simms - Sold for profit

Having a few lads in the international set up is somewhat of a novelty compared to the last 8-10 years.

Well if you do go back ten years you can add a lot more than that , Ryan Ledson, the Connolly, Kenny,DCl , Lookman, Dowell team at u20 s, Reece Welch was in the Dobbin/ Onyango u16/17 team at one time. Throw in Gibson and Luke Garbutt and probably a few more too . For me the take away is from u15 - u21 if your playing for England the higher the age group the more likely you’ll make it but even at u21 international level nothing is guaranteed, so many fail to achieve what we hoped for.
