New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

I think the stadium itself is great but there's always teething issues and an adjustment period. There's infrastructure and logistical problems around it.

West Ham's stadium is terrible but Stratford has top drawer transport links. Or you can just walk to the next tube stop to avoid the crowds.
transiting 1,000s of people in a short space of time in a city environment that wasnt made for it is always going to befall of compromises.
For me in my situation, there is no difference in getting in/out of goodison v BMD, only more people are now walking with me to the ground

We could be like Coventry, they have a rail station right next to the ground. Fantastic for getting in, but they dont run trains for over an hour after a game. Utterly baffling.

Its not just the new stadium where its changed. Last season at Goodison, especially the final 5 countdown games there was definitely a different type of supporter at and around the ground. Faces I'd never seen and languages and accents I'd never heard in the Lower Gwladys before.

People were paying big money for a last chance to go there. Now people are paying for the first chance to go the new one.

That ground at Coventry is not walkable from the city centre either for most. It's twice the distance of HD from town. They rely on shuttle buses but there's a better road network from town and it's also right off the motorway. Also only 30k capacity and plenty of parking spaces around the ground.

Bolton similar but they do have the station that is used.

Just a one-off sort of deal that though. If we were still at Goodison now that sort of thing wouldn't be a feature and the club would retain its predominantly working class north Merseyside identity.

We'll still have that demographic now, but prices will eventually erode our identity if resistance fails to materialise. But it will.

The push back is going to be very interesting, and it'll ignite around stuff like draconian rules on speech.

If you're charging top prices you need the team to match it as well and entertaining football. They can get away with it this season due to novelty demand.

What they can't do is continue to charge a lot more just for the stadium without the product on the pitch.

My first visit to the ground on Saturday.
Forget the result/ performance.
The exterior and interior of the ground is stunning.
I absolutely loved every minute of it .
From the fans plaza and drinks / food outlets to the incredible views of the pitch I thought it was incredible.
I was in Club View and the queue for drinks was long and service slow and inexplicably they ran out of beer but otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.
I got the train to Sandhills and then had a bevy and walked into town afterwards. For me there was very little difference in getting off at Kirkdale and walking to Goodison.
That said if you have limited mobility ( I'm 65 and pretty fit ) you might struggle - presumably there is a drop off zone for disabled people but no idea where with the roads closed off.
So , only good things to report. Let's hope we can get a team worthy of the stadium.

Looking for suggestions as I'm not really sure what to do for the best. Have tickets for the Nottingham Forest game, travelling in from Chester. Usually just get off train at Moorfields and walk in. Unfortunately my son has a fracture in his foot. He's in a boot and on crutches, so the 1.6 mile walk in is a no-no, but there's just no great options to get reasonably close - even getting the train to Sandhills leaves pretty much a mile walk.

Defo. Let's see though.

This lot are tin-eared and wont give a flying one IMO.

Contact the club, give them a call, they may be able to help in some way.

Yeah I can see that might be a big problem.

I haven't used these services since we moved, so somebody else may have a better idea than me, but if you get off the underground at Lime Street, the soccerbus goes from Commutation Row near to the Walker Art Gallery, at least it's not far to walk from Lime Street? I've no idea how close to the stadium it goes though. There's also a bus from Liverpool One bus station, would that be walkable from James Street? Having suffered a similar injury myself a few years back I certainly found out how awkward it could be getting to the game!

The stadium have wheelchairs. I'm not sure if they'd allow you to take one up to Sandhills station and return it then borrow again and return it after the reverse journey?

Might be worth asking - they might require a deposit if they do.

Rigmarole like even if that is allowed.

My only suggestions would be to tell your lad to miss the game. Even if it was Goodison I would say the same. There’s too many thing that can happen with a dodgy leg. Just my opinion.

How are they returning it if they're on the train? by remote control? Excuse me mr musk, your self driving wheelchairs are on the fritz again...
