2025/26 Tim Iroegbunam

He definitely has something about him but Iroegbunam and Garner vs Newcastle's midfield is a brutal matchup. I do not feel confident about that one at all. Although Newcastle's away form is shocking this season, so there is that.

For me it's his passing. Offers nothing positive to the team there. Can get away with that in a midfield next to a really top class passer from deep but we don't have that
That’s fair actually, he’s not a playmaker type that pings balls about or dictates the pace. Could certainly improve there too.

….i expect he’ll start, not least to combat the power of Joelinton.

He does lack application which means his form can drop off in matches but this will be a real opportunity for him. It’ll be up to him to grasp it.
As he fatigues physically, he matches it mentally. So if not booked already he usually throws a late or sloppy tackle in around 60ish minutes.
His gradual introduction has been good, not expecting to much to soon.

I really hope this lad can step up in the coming weeks and months because we're going to need him. He's been effective from the bench in a couple of games recently, but also has not looked good enough in previous games.

Fingers and toes crossed he can seize his chance.

He will know that this is his opportunity to stake his claim in the team. Gana is out and then Afcon, he doesn't have a better opportunity to grasp it.

Give him a good 60mins to start with, and then bring on Alcaraz to completely change things up on a tiring defence.

Palace
Utd
Afcon ( apart from Illy )

Could end up being the best ( forced ) tactical approach that Moyes bumps in to.

Always better when put on later for now, but 50/50 at best when he starts.

Hope he improves. I'm one of his bigger critics but if he manages to get himself to the same form/spot/mental/whatever when he starts as when he gets subbed on he'll be a great asset, so fingers crossed he and the coaching team figure it out.

Had a great game starting v Fulham - should never have been dropped on Monday night & we might have kept 11 players on the pitch ....

He didn't though, he had a solid at best game, shockingly missed a sitter, misplaced passes, fell asleep at times. These are the things that Moyes will look at and want to improve - lad's already got the physicality for it but mentally/technically he's not all there (yet?) and that leads to inconsistent performances.

Scores and ratings pretty much say the same with him getting less than most of the team.

In the end, not having 11 on the pitch might've helped us win so ;)

Tim never deserved to be dropped that was my point ... plus you should not change a winning team ....
I take your point Joey.
He has now got a chance to make that spot his own.

This is 2 threads now that we are debating in, don't you dare open the Armstrong thread. I can't do 3

You went off topic not me - Tim should have started he had a very much improved game v Fulham he gave us physicality in the middle of the park....
We will need it v Newcastle on Saturday...
