Well done Rach

Foreign Aid is not just giving loads of money to other countries, it’s a kind reciprocal way of trading around the world disguised under this terminology ‘foreign aid’. The ‘money’ we send often comes with favourable trade agreements and promises, medicine, technology etc. I don’t claim to fully understand it but it’s kind of a way of trading without all the tariffs and red tape that comes with it. Kind of like “I’ll give you £50 which will help you spend today but when tickets come out for the derby next season I want 2 guaranteed for £40 and a £10” food voucher” a kind of under the counter agreement
Thanks for explaining that.

My understanding of economics is not my greatest virtue but it still fails me that the money we send doesn't actually appear to help the people of the country we send it to. It's just like 'give us your money and we will utilise the under privileged masses to provide you with the goods you want while we spend that money doing other things' when, in fact, they could be using it to enhance the lives of their 'underclass' who would still be producing the goods we so desire but, just maybe, getting some residual benefit.

Then, again, I'm no economic guru but it's clearly the economic elite who most benefit.

Btw, I fully understand that we cannot all be rich because then it comes down to the level of 'richness' and somebody will always be at the bottom working to keep those above them richer. It would just be 'humanistic' to think that people who work their lives in industries totally ungoverned and without any form of H&S protection/legislation or employment rights might see some benefit from their labours. But, I guess, I'm just being naive.

As Marie Antoinette supposedly said...'let them eat cake!'

Danny Kruger ….. absolute rat … complete waste of healthy organs
Not heard that name, is he a Daily Mail journalist (where their owners are tax registered in tax havens like jersey and previously the Bermuda) or is he a GB “News” mouthpiece ( who operate out of Dubai to avoid paying taxes whilst convincing the Neanderthals amongst us to hate single mothers and brown people)

Funny old world isn’t it.

Mate, my post is just a very rudimentary take on it from something I was told years ago. World finances are a million miles away from anything I could ever begin to understand.

He’s another ex Tory who jumped ship to reform like the rest of the rats who thought the Tories weren’t right wing enough for them

about £26 for first child and £17.25 per child thereafter, used to be for only 2nd child. Less than 3 pints at HDS to me, a fortune to someone unable to feed their kids.
In the olden days,I mean the late 60’s early 70’s “family allowance” was not given for the first child.
When our second was born we received the kings ransom sum of 18 shillings per week.
90 decimal pence to you young uns.
