Bournemouth lost their whole defence. Brentford lost their star striker, star winger and manager all in one window but I've not heard half the cryarsing about recruitment and squad depth from them, they've just knuckled down and got on with it.

Exactly, they use the resources they have and have a cut at it, shoot, press, go for goal, that's what football is about - scoring and creating as many chances as possible, shooting and crossing and putting opponents under pressure

I think Moyes is on a power trip not playing the new signings. Every football manager knows fans want to see new signings playing to get the measure of them but he's bringing on Mctreacletoe ahead of Rohl and Dibling

Thankfully comments like this are getting a bit more rare lately. I like to think a lot of posters who were/are quite pro-Moyes have either already gotten a bit sick of him themselves or have to admit that almost nobody has said or is saying they expected Europe.

I think it's a weak way of dismissing criticism. If football fans can't have a strong opinion of a manager after 12 seasons then when can they...

Personally I don't think the week to week struggles are worth going into details on. I don't expect anything out of the ordinary from him and nor do I expect anything disastrous. for me the backlash against him was entirely predictable given his history with us.

Of more interest is just how competently the "new" Everton will be when we do decide to change up. Would be a real breath of fresh air if it all seems properly thought and with a real plan for the future

Lol. I've got a strong opinion of him. So what's the expectation then? If we didn't expect Europe, then what exactly were we expecting? Mid-table mediocrity?

Newsflash: Moyes supporter didn't expect Europe, so is therefore a bit sick of him because they admit they didn't expect Europe! LOL, you can go in the bin too.

Have to laugh at the old school British managers who persuade supporters into believing
youngsters or foreign players need months to get up to speed with the premier league, meanwhile these foreign forward thinking managers at Sunderland, Bournemouth Brighton bring in 10+ new players, young and old from abroad and have the teams playing great football from the off. Just a ploy from the likes of Moyes to hide their coaching limitations

Some managers are still stuck in the 2000’s. The Premier League has moved on, there is quality everywhere you look now, you have to move with the times or get left behind.

What a load of crap. The fundamentals of football remain the same. The same stupid argument that new signings should all hit the ground running is undercut by the terrible run Liverpool have been on.

Fact is, players have to take responsibility for their own levels of performance. You can blame the manager all you want, but it is just scapegoating.

One of the problems in modern football is people want to blame the coaches for all ills when the problems are often much deeper rooted. People talk about Brentford recruiting, but they have a very advanced setup on that front, just like Brighton. We have fallen badly behind.

What we have is two donkeys. But, at the same time, you can only buy players willing to come for whatever financial packages were on offer.

For whatever reason the club seems to be trying to follow a strategy similar to the likes of Brighton by buying potential in the hope of selling them on. It’s a bit of a self-defeating strategy for me as everybody is now trying to do the same thing.

But the only signing who looks like they should be perhaps getting started is Rohl, but he’s been injured.

Dibling isn’t better than Ndiaye, though I was disappointed he never came on ahead of McNeil. But maybe he has a knock or the manager is trying to make him hungrier. But he will surely get chances during the African Cup, which is another consideration in terms of squad management.

He binned off the DOF so he could get control so he got plenty of say in the transfers!

Is Moyes paying you to write this nonsense? The manager is solely responsible for this mess of a season. He demanded that the DOF role got the boot, and Thelwell and Purdy both left. He demanded that he be put in charge of transfers. He decided in his infinite wisdom to change the successful way he played last season instead of playing to the current squad's strengths and building from there. In short, he's got every major decision wrong from the summer onwards and has had an absolute nightmare of a transfer window and a season. There's no one else to blame; it's on him and him alone.
