2025/26 David Moyes

I was expecting this to be a transitional year of building the basis of a new team, would have been happy to watch us play to a midtable finish if I could see a young team that looked like it could kick on next year.

Needless to say that's not happened. We brought in some highly rated young players over the summer who he's not getting enough out of, some aren't playing at all.

Most importantly results have tailed off, and not for the first time yesterday it was on poor game management from Moyes more than anything else.

Things can turn around very quickly in football but atm I dont think he's doing a good job at all.

You can't blame Moyes for Barry missing an absolute sitter when we were 1-0 up that any half-decent Sunday League player would have put away.
You can't blame Moyes for the fluky deflected equaliser.
You can't blame Moyes for the botched 2-on-1 situation at the end of the game.

Whatever tactics the Manager sets in place, once the players cross that white line and the whistle blows...
Disagree.

He coaches the team and sets the standards & expectations, culturing the mentality in the process.

He's failed on all counts - so the vast majority of our ills on the pitch rightly fall to him. Saying 'he isnt the one missing the chances' is a far, far too simplistic a view.

We need to be showing more than we have this season so far. to justify another season of this. Either need to be top half pushing for Europe, doing something in FA Cup or be playing a better standard of football, rather than relying on individualism of Ndiaye or Grealish (who are top drawer players for the league).

All we've seen so far is two home wins in the league sponsored by Dick Turpin and a win at Wolves who everyone has beat (and who then knocked us out the cup).

Maybe so mate, maybe so. It was a cheap shot in reply to an equally cheap shot.

I'm up there with the best of them for getting carried away after a poor performance, but I like to think I can keep my feet on the ground. A point away is never to be sniffed at in this league, especially against a club basking in a feel good factor with a bit of momentum and a night crowd behind them. We haven't really had that feel good factor or momentum since Bobby's first season. Sure, there was a bit of hope when Moshiri started throwing cash around, but we never actually enjoyed Koeman spunking 100's of millions to challenge for 8th place playing a brand of football that was worse than Moyes and his greatest hits ;)

It just seems to me that people expected us to be challenging for Europe, and I never once expected it this season. We've spent about 2 bob in the big scheme of things over the last few seasons and we've steadily improved under this manager. Sure there's moments it looks a bit crap, but that's just where we are. A mediocre club, with an over opinionated fanbase that will never be happy unless we're finishing above the big red turd.

I'm not in the Moyes out camp, I wasnt expecting europe etc, we all knew the window wasn't great, needed fullbacks , more pace etc. His subs , lack of subs etc are shocking , keeping Dewsbury Hall as a 10, playing hokey cokey with the strikers , not giving Alcaraz, Dibling , even Tim more minutes etc. Even the set pieces get worse by the week. He's too predictable and so are we.
I’m sure he appreciates your unwavering support 🤣

Can anyone explain why Moyes has decided to adopt this messing about at back. Constantly putting us under uncessary pressure, our players can't even pass simple balls, never mind trying to play Pep style tactics. We will get punished at United if we play like that. If your going to give opposition possession, make sure it's well away from our goal.

To be fair there were a few times the camera's showed he pointed to hoof it but our players played out. My only concern is with Beto up there it was only going to come back anyway

moyes' football is stuck between the ninety and the 2000. Two substitutions players trending with fixed roles and reluctant to change his mind. He's not a bad coach and person but is ancient and unproductive.
It's sad because we have material for do it better

Does anyone know who we'd want to get as manager if we sacked Moyes? Because I'm seeing an awful lot of "get rid" posts from people who don't seem to understand that this is real life. Not fifa manager. Sacking any manager, mid-season without any realistic upgrades available is a bad idea. I'm far from being happy with Moyes. He never changes or learns. He torpedoed our season when he shrugged off our league cup campaign. But I'm not going to demand that we cut our noses off, to spite our faces and call to sack him without any real plan in place beyond that. Its nonsense.

I’m sure he is more tactically astute than it feels like at the moment but my god, he doesn’t help himself does he. The perception is that he thinks the only problem is the number 9 position. Subbing one for the other every game just doesn’t work and shows a lack of nouse to change/control the game. That performance last night from 30 mins onwards was abysmal. Yes, the players are the ones doing it (or not) on the pitch but surely the manager is responsible for making sure they play how he wants and the enthusiasm and confidence levels are high. And as for bringing McNeil on, that just screams of desperation. I think that sub has made for a lot of fans turn on him and doubt what he’s doing. And as for Barry, yes he absolutely should be scored. But he would have already known that and felt bad enough about it. Hauling him off 10 mins into the 2nd half and making him the scapegoat was a shocker in my eyes. He should’ve stayed on the pitch until the end and should be playing the full 90 the next few games as well. Very concerned how Moyes is managing these new players - doesn’t make for a good advert for any future signings does it.

He picks the players and dictates tactics. He signs players for €100m - and dumps them on the bench.

Nah, he can take his share of responsibility, alright.

I want him to get through to May - but any notion he can stay on beyond that is for the birds. Right now, he'll do well to get to Christmas.
