2025/26 Thierno Barry

The only consolation he can take from that miss is the certainty that Beto would have missed it as well.

People keep saying 30million this and that

Its bargin basement that these days for a striker how many good ones are there in the prem who have been bought for 30m recently?

What was newcastles about 70mill? That the fee for a decent level
We could have easily spent that if the manager didn't want the club spending £40m on a young winger he doesn't like.

16th most expensive striker bought this Summer. Some players cheaper than him that are 100% better:

Arokodare
Bonny
Ivanovic
Burkardt
Romulo
Igor Jesus
Panichelli
Lepaul
Tiago Tomas
Breel Embolo
Igamane
Tresoldi
Matanovic

I could go on. Didn't like the link to Barry, didn't like us signing Barry, there were so many better options. He just looks clumsy and raw.

I think he'd do better under a different manager. I'm sorry but for all our attacking quality our strikers are still so bloody isolated. Yes, both Beto and Barry have missed shots which should be hitting the back of the net and that's on them but they don't get anywhere near enough chances every game to atone for those misses. Other strikers do and their misses become more forgettable.

Must've happened very quickly because he looked exactly like this against Roma in preseason as well.
My thoughts exactly , was at the Roma game and saw him live. One effort from outside the box where he sort of struck the ball with the soul of his foot reminded me of my 7 year old daughters technique in her football practise although she has improved and gets a few goals now.

Worse still his confidence will be even more fkd now 🥲

You're focusing too much on just their chances here. Overall hold up play, winning aerial duels, making themselves an option etc. is non-existent regardless of manager.

Barry did well at hold up play in the Brighton game and was involved in both goals due to it. Making themselves an option is partly on them but partly due to tactical employment. I don't think our tactics get the best out of them unless Alcaraz is playing in regards to Beto. Not having competent attacking fullbacks doesn't help them either.
