2025/26 Thierno Barry

Feel really sorry for him.

Confidence is so important for all footballers, but particularly strikers, and really don’t think Moyes man management has helped him at all to settle into a new team and league.

Just can't agree with stuff like this. Getting paid £70k a week and not slotting from 3 yards out (leaning back) is not a confidence thing, it's a quality thing. Beto does the same stuff. They're both simply not good enough.

Moyes isn't helping either of them but they've both had gilt-edge chances and missed them

Barry didn’t scout himself or force Everton to sign him.

I still think he will come good with more confidence but we need to look at who signed him and why he isn’t playing regularly or with confidence.

You will probably have to wait for someone’s autobiography in a decade or so to find out who proposed the transfer.

Said it earlier, I refuse to believe it’s all on incompetence because it seems any decent signing we make is a rarity. Feels more like sabotage or some laundering nonsense.

(Yeah dumb conspiracy theory probably)

Problem is that confidence comes from playing well or at least working hard to get a bit of appreciation from the fans but neither of those things are happening right now.

It's been such a poor signing. The Dibling one I can at least understand more because we have good players in those positions, but we needed Barry to come in and the main man with Beto supporting when he needed a break.

Ok but who signed Barry?
Who scouted him?
Who thought he was going to be good enough to lead our line and score goals?
Who thought spending £30m on him was good business?

I agree. It's been really poor all around and right now you'd be brave to say he's at the club in the long term.

We can discuss whether Moyes helps or hinders the lads confidence, but ability wise he just isnt showing any traits at all of being a competent striker.

Why do we have to keep signing "raw" players yet pay big money for it. Surely 27m could have ben spent on someone who at least looks like they can do some basics, get a shot away, occupy defenders etc.

Me and my lad looked back on the miss, and honestly we weren't surprised he missed when you see his body shape after the miss, he was never in control of the situation, leaning back. Looked like a 16yo youth kid snatching at an effort, not a professional footballer.
