Everton Youth Teams Thread

I was reading about Brian Madjo before the game as apparently he’s played three senior internationals for Luxembourg but is now somehow still eligible to play for England. No explanation as to how or even how true that is. Sounds like the kind of player we’d buy.
Friendlies dont cap-tie players anymore theyve got to be a competitive game. I *think* even then you can apply for special dispensation if you get capped younger than 21 and don't get another cap for like 5 years.

I’m fascinated by the Pita at right back experiment that seems to be going on. He was the standout in a handful of the Geneva games for me, esp for his tenacity pressing/chasing the ball. But have always seen him as a winger/AM so I have no frame of reference for his tackling/positional sense.
Wonder if it’s an attempt to “unlock” something based on his work rate/attitude, or just a lack of depth at the position and he’s being deployed as an out and out wingback who can get into the final third.

Last time I saw him was vs United and he got proper bullied at RB.

It’s an interesting one , he played for Wales u17 twice this month against Italy with “ 11” on his shirt, scoring one goal when coming off the bench in the first match and starting the second. So it seems Wales see him more as a winger/ AM.

If someone in our coaching staff sees potential for him at right back I’m pleased they’re doing it early in his career, we’ve tried converting wingers at least three times and it’s never worked and gets much harder to do once they reach u21 level. Always been right backs too, and it’s been the defensive side which let them down.

With the modern trend for “ inverted full backs” and “ underlapping full backs” I could actually see Pita looking promising in that context with his energy and pace. Without wishing to sound too pessimistic I’m not convinced our Academy coaches are innovative enough to try something like that, but it’s something to watch out for.

I’ve never heard his name before tonight, but on the basis of this claim I want him to start on Monday at Sunderland.
Robert is a talented attacker who scores goals, from the team sheet he was playing in his ideal role , alongside a big no9 in Loney. The challenge is just how we develop the likes of him and Graham who are not out and out 9s and not out and out wingers.

That’s what I’m curious about. Is this something they’re really actively trying to pursue/develop or is this a flash in the pan, Lambert-is-injured-so-we’ve-created-another Patterson/Dixon style stand-in.
