If you knew the man you would not say the things you do. I know its only your opinion, but your opinion I am afraid it very wrong, you only guess what really happened behind the scenes. He never had the money people think he did, he had no choice but to sell so he sold the club to a man who build our new stadium, how on earth has that destroyed our club. As I said before rest in peace Bill because a lot of people never knew what you had done for our great club.My opinion of him hasn't changed at all. A dreadful chairman who destroyed this club in ways that I'm not sure we can ever truly recover from. I could go on forever about the damage he did all for the sake of his own ego because he saw the club as his personal toy train set and piggyback. All the rewriting of history from his acolytes won't change that.
RIP to the guy and I feel nothing but sympathy for his loved ones, but lets not start rewrite history. It'll only cause more hatred and resentment.
Its not an opinion that Kenwright canclled AGM's because he got rumbled by the shareholders for telling multiple lies including the Samuelson's fsf fiasco. Its not an opinion that he sold every single asset the club had that wasn't nailed down. Its not an opinion that it was Moshiri who paid off the debts we had accrued under Kenwright. Debts accrued despite us having the lowest net spend and having spent the least on maintaining the stadium throughout this time. Did Kenwright have the clubs best interests at heart when he tried to take us to that hideous lit-up batcave in Kirby? If you knew the man you would not say the things you do. I think you’ll find they were a poor imitation. Betty worked full time at the Rovers and had her hands full just coping with the lunchtime rush, never mind supplying the local supermarkets. That sounds like the kind of caper Jack Duckworth would get up to on the sly the cheeky get.Betty Turpins hotpots they used to be on sale in supermarkets in the deep freeze - they were awful ....
I could tell you a lot more than you suspect but because I would be betraying a dead mans promised trust I will not do that for you or anybody else. You seem to know a lot about EFC's affairs, where did you get all your information from? I suspect the media, am I right, because you also have no proof. I ask again did you know Mr. Kenwright, well I did and you will go on degrading his reputation without even knowing the man. You also named the lit-batcave in Kirkby, How can you say that over a stadium that was never built. Whether you like it or not Mr Kenwright was a very good person and you will never find anybody who knew him to say any different and that's NOT BUILT NO SENTIMENT its built on fact. Its not an opinion that Kenwright canclled AGM's because he got rumbled by the shareholders for telling multiple lies including the Samuelson's fsf fiasco. You say that I and others don't know what he did for the club. Well enlighten me. Tell me more. I'm happy to be proven wrong and eat my words if you can legitimately do it. I suspect you won't though because like everyone who defends Kenwright you'll argue based on sentiment rather then fact.
You know nothing. Was a cancer to the club
Rest in piece s though bill..
The days of the sentimental local businessman running a P/L club are long gone. Kenwright was at the tail end of that era. Part of the problem was that he did not have that perspective and soldiered on too long. Good intentions most of the time I am sure but inept at the role as time progressed.I think the Premier League evolved far beyond his financial means, but he couldn’t bear the thought of not being involved with the club he loved so much. Anyway, we all got through it in the end.
