2025/26 Jarrad Branthwaite

official then, defo should have sold him when we could have.

when they had a mystic ball to know this was going to happen?

i bet you would have been livid if we sold him to spurs for 50mil in the summer on the eve of moving into our new stadium

the overreaction and revisionism in here is going to be disgraceful. can we just lock the thread now?

Whats the point in paying for the sports science and medical team if they give him the go ahead just for him to fall apart again after 2 training sessions?

We've always got to have a player in the squad who ends up like this. Now Calvert-Lewins gone, i guess its Branthwaite's turn.

Absolutely useless management from the club that.
It's not clear from what's been said whether he's fallen apart again or whether it just hasn't healed as well they'd hoped. If he's gone into full training for one or two days and it's gone again then that suggests someone hasn't done their job properly, but if he's gone back to full training and said look it still doesn't feel right that's a different thing. Recovery and treatment isn't a zero sum game, you can have the best plans in the world but if a body doesn't respond to them there's not a lot you can do.

So new CB on the shopping list then. A first 11 quality one too. He will be back eventually but will have missed a lot of football, and very much now can be classed as fragile until he proves otherwise. 3 fit CBs, one of whom is our starting RB is awful. I really like Garner at RB, and we do have plenty of midfield options now, so we can cope, but the re-jigging required now if Keane gets a stomach upset is quite significant.

We’ve done ok without him so far, but it’s just another area on the pitch where the squad is paper thin again. Whack-a-mole.

This is a great shame, but it won’t impact our (inevitable, and for now most satisfactory) mid-table finish this season.

No way we should’ve sold him, though. He’s a terrific talent and now we’re not desperate, out with our begging bowl, we can afford to wait. Does this lessen the chance he eventually comes good? Yes, of course… but only a little. The odds are still in our favour over the long term and happily that’s where we can now afford to look.

Bloody hell, so with thigh surgery that's going to be a best case scenario of 3-4 months. Could be up to 6. Factor in needing to get match fit after so long out and we aren't really going to have use of him this season. Definitely need to be dipping into the transfer market in Jan now. FB issues, more help needed up top, CB issues and the fact that we are going to probably be missing Gana and Ndiaye for about 8 games and we are somehow looking quite short.

How's that happened?!

Poor lad probably finished, wish him well with recovery.

Are other clubs losing as many of their most important players to career wrecking injury issues as us? It feels like we get more than our fair share... Medical team no good?

It’s ok mate because Peter Reid had loads of injuries once too.

If we sign a starting RB (which we need to do regardless) then JOB can move central. We still then need to buy a CB but it isn’t as costly as a starting 11 CB.
