2025/26 Jarrad Branthwaite

He looked good against Palace when moved inside and Garner did well at right back. That's the logic.

Who's playing CM then? The guy who runs around out of position constantly, or the one who has played 45 minutes for us and hasn't been available most of the season?

Rohl probably, if he is fit. He's evidently rated by Moyes and he looks rather decent.

Considering we are going to lose Gana for AFCON, we could do with Rohl getting matches.

I'm all for him getting minutes to get up to speed, but it's folly to assume he's ready for that to the point that he'd improve the squad. And then when Gana goes to AFCON, you'll still need a RB.

KDH and Gana for me... Would like to see Rohl grow into a deeper CM but early days for him... keep him fit and ensure he is ready for when Gana gets off in December.

Gives us the option to then bring Alcaraz into the team.

Maybe the reason he's not doing so well at full back is because he isn't a full back.

If it was me, I'd be putting Garner right back.
Well yes, that should have been addressed in the summer.

But again, who plays CM if Garner is at RB? And is it a lock that O'Brien plays at CB? I'm unsure, at best, with both.

Garner has been our best CM and Rohl has played 46 minutes thus far. I don't think Garner plays RB unless one of the three CBs gets injured or we're down a goal.
JOB has done more than a commendable job at RB. But against West Ham and city his flaws were exposed. I’d play him alongside Keane at present. Tarks hadn’t been at the races this season.

I'm surprised we haven't seen the side shuffled round a bit more, at least within games, seen as Garner seems to be a better right back, Alcaraz looks half decent as a no.10 and KDH isn't a no.10. Or you have our 40m signing sat on the bench, when Ndiaye or Grealish could move into the middle.

Having said this, our manager is Moyes, so I shouldn't be surprised at all.

This is such a gutter.

Sadly, he can no longer be relied on, nor will he ever get to the levels many of us thought he would.
It is gutting if true but that's a bit of an overreaction. Plenty of elite players have had a spell of injury issues but have come through it just fine.

I'm not too sure what people are struggling with about the idea of moving O'Brien over to be honest, it's fairly obvious what the thinking behind it would be. I'm not saying they will or even should do it, but it's not exactly a mad shout.
He's a CB and should play CB, I don't see anyone struggling with that.

More that moving him from RB creates holes elsewhere that, to me, don't make the team better.

We've also allowed 9 goals in the league which is 8th best? It's not as if we've been poor defensively.

What I am struggling with most is people suggesting we will be taking out a world beater from the midfield to fill a RB gap and would be irreplicable.

Don't get me wrong, Garner is showing a lot more consistency (and fitness) over the last 6 months, but he still remains a 7/10 kind of player with the ability to once in a while put out an 8/10 kind of performance.

I would rather see KDH dropping deeper and having Alcaraz in the no.10 spot who works well with Beto. Or as above poster says maybe even bringing Jack in the middle, Ndiaye out left and Dibling on the right.

Options.
