2025/26 David Moyes

Like I said barring injury, Cahill was a number 10 for 90% of his Everton career and fellaini was a centre mid for the majority. The season he went as a 10 and false 9 at times and Cahill as a false 9, was the season we had no strikers, it wasn’t a master stroke
And yet he made it work and we were a very competitive team despite not having a striker. I personally think that reflects well on Moyes.

I didnt say he didnt want.

I said if he had overall control he wouldnt have sign a load of young players.
He would have been told by TFG it wiii be mix of youngsters and ready made first teamers. Believe it or not but rumours of TFG saying they will not be spending big money on players over a certain age probably 29/30. Yet Moyes wanted Soucek, but we got Rhol. Another rumour was if utd came back for Branthwaite, Moyes wanted Maguire as part of the deal.

Unfortunately Moyes is here for 2.5 yrs at the most, he doesn’t want to build a team. The only way you can change managers regularly is to have your recruitment team buying the players

Moyes had a poor record with strikers and pace, especially at Everton. Until we bought mirallas in 2012 his last season we hardly had any pace on the wings in 10yrs under Moyes. Kilbaine, McFadden, osman, arteta, pienaar. Anichebe played wide at times, Van der meyde. Probably the only one was Donovan on loan
Pace costs money, strikers cost money (even dreadful ones as we have found). He used what little money we had on players like Baines, Jags, Lescott, Stones, Pienaar, Arteta etc. Jesus wept our fans are dense.

we’ve been a mess, for ages

we don’t have a 15 goal striker

we’re still in transition

and yet people don’t see it

i’m optimistic ( said this from the summer)

the futures bright

Told by who? You seem to think he doesn’t understand the principles of squad building and would be looking to build a team of 29-32-year-olds.

I think there is more he can do with the squad , garner is our best Rb until a new one can be acquired play him there ,we have Rohl,Dewsbury Hall who can both play deeper iroegbubam too,the strikers aren’t good enough so play different he did it with Cahill/ Fellaini for a large part of 2010-11,Alcarez can only be effective as a number 10, I think he can be more adventurous without a doubt

I think it's a very mid table squad. We can squeeze a bit more out of them for sure but so can every other team. Based on what I've seen I'd be surprised if we finished above 8th, which always leads me back to that team selection against Wolves in the cup and wondering why we didn't take it seriously.
