2025/26 David Moyes

I wasnt excited by his return, it signalled to me how much we were on our arse, but after appointing the worst manager in football, Sean Dyche, after the 2nd worst in football, Benitez, it was kind of a relief.

He came in and got results, something the aforementioned worst manager in football couldnt with the same group of players.

Sure, the LC defeat wasnt good, but hey ho, Everton getting knocked out of cups has happened for the majority of my lifetime, before Moyes and after Moyes.

We currently sit 8th, very early days, but 2 years ago people would have sold their Nan for 8th after 7 games.

Hes not a long term appointment and Everton arent even anywhere close to being a team you can make moves with, probably never will.

Thats the truth people need to accept, we are utterly finished, we peaked in 1987.

*stands back and watches the explosion.
He's like Hugh Jackman playing Wolverine: her until he's 90!

He's a limited safety-first manager who'll always fail to be bold when it's required. He sees Everton as a club he can do that with and we should feel happy about it. That was the reason there was an army of people wanting him gone prior to when he left last time for United.

That's just on the playing side.

But it's a disgrace he's back for a number of other reasons, not the least of which are:

  • He disrespected this club publicly after demanding players off us
  • He backed the Kenwright regime up and told fans to back off wanting Kenwright out
  • He marginalised and belittled our greatest ever manager HK

I look at Moyes and his arrogance and wonder just how hels been able to con so many Evertonians that he's better than what he is, never mind 'a legend' in the eyes of many of them.

I detest that man like very few others in football, and the cash that's flown from fans into his and his family's pockets over the years is a disgrace and needs looking into.

A hideous - HIDEOUS - man.

wow wow you get worse and worse

Ah, but what do you REALLY think? 🤔

I dont rate or like him. Simple as that.

Above all, I see him as a poster boy for an era of Everton mediocrity.

When we have no Moyes we can begin to move forward again.
Bit harsh Davek. He did a great job in his first spell considering the relative lack of resources. I agree he's too safety first and too in awe of the better sides to go on the front foot against them but the reality is he's been our best manager since the 80s heyday and yes that includes big Joe Royle who had players of the ilk of Kanchelskis, Prime Big Dunc, Gary Speed (god bless), Nick Barmby etc and didn't have us any higher than Moyes did with the likes of Marcus Bent and Zinedine Kilbane

Joe > Moyes

Joe > Moyes
I was never Royles biggest fan. His style of football wasn't to my taste and he was limited in his own ways just like Moyes is. The only difference is Big Joe is a club legend so is thought of more fondly. And to those who mention the FA Cup win there was a ton of luck with that (Bristol City battered us, Newcastle battered us and had a perfectly good goal ruled out) So whilst it was great winning the cup there was a degree of luck involved like you get with most successful cup runs

Won a trophy in the couple of years he was here and battered them in the derbies.

That puts him well out of reach of a failure and coward like Moyes.

He wont be going anywhere this season and if we finish top half of the table than I doubt he'll be gone next season ( unless their is possibly conflicting issues over player recruitment )

I doubt his contract will be renewed after hearing Angus speak on moving forward.

But if Moyes gives us a solid base to work from than he's done a good job.

Also we will have more time to look for a good appointment that buys into the role, rather than another spinning turntable of managers..

Pickford and Branthwaite are buying into our plans..

Too simplistic a view. Cups are great but not the best way to judge a managerial reign as the aforementioned luck plays its part in cup runs. I prefer to look at the league campaigns and Moyes is clearly superior in that area despite the worse Merseyside Derby record

I didn't. I just saw the mess this club was in and knew we needed a united front to get us through it...while you and others were determined to destabilise the situation further and risk our PL existence...
Ahem
The words Dyche & Benitez do not equate to a united front with this club , never will.

They should never have been anywhere near the club under any circumstances.

Would never have guessed.
