Jack freakish has scored 17 goals and had 23 assists in 157 games at Man City. Now I don’t think Everton are us good as Man City, wots he gonna do for us. Don’t buy a player based upon his media profile…..and he buys his shin pads from Argos.

….its Monopoly money these days, what’s more important is we acquire players who are effective and significantly improve us.

I agree, I think what he adds plus the media profile and attention it attracts makes it worth a risk for 12 months.

Around 15m for a seasons loan? I wouldnt be touching that no.

Because of his age / ability or you think that’s too much money for 1 season?

Not as simple as that though mate. He’d have a free (er) role with us, and be the main man. You could argue that he’s stifled at City

True but I remember when Moshiri was spending stupid money and there was a sentiment of “who cares, it’s not YOUR money” and we’ve learned that we very much should care if the club is spending too much money, so I get the concerns

There’s no point surviving the Moshiri years if we then forget all the lessons it taught us imo

They signed a contract he’s entitled to the money , he Might fancy getting in the England squad but if he drops half his wages he’ll lose out on nearly £16m .

If he walks away from that he probably needs sectioning rather than another England cap

Why though? He’s worth so much already

What can he want for/buy /invest in/improve his life on 300k a week for a year, that he can’t already have or do on 150k a week, when he’s already worth £15m?

The only reason to not do it is ego and greed

Also long term it could work out better financially

If he never plays again at city he’s not getting another contract, certainly not for 300k a week

If he plays well with us maybe we offer him 200 on a permanent deal, or someone else offers more, or his career lasts longer so he earns slightly less than his current deal but he gets a higher level contract for longer. Or he gets back in the city side

Please don’t compare his salary to a normal persons and say would you take a pay cut. I imagine most on here would struggle (if they don’t already) if their wage was halved

For a premier league footballer surely there’s no difference in lifestyle once you’re on 100k plus a week for the long term

And then away from the finances what about his happiness and his career. He seems like a lad who gets a lot of joy from playing and expressing himself on the pitch, representing the national side and going away with England. He’s not doing anything when he’s not even making the bench at City

If he comes here he’s the main Man, we build a side around him like at Villa and he won’t have to mould to pep’s system. Likely gets back in the England squad, who could go deep in the World Cup, maybe even win the thing

it’s quite a lot of money to spend when we’re also trying to fill out a threadbare squad whilst trying not to run afoul of financial regulations

I think the lad can play, so it’s not an on the pitch issue for me

This is the sort of deal we do in 2-3 years when the books are fully balanced and we’ve got a decent sized squad that needs that extra bit of flair to push it forward

It’s not the deal we do in a summer where we need to sign 5-7 players and every penny needs to be accounted for

He only scored 29 goals in 185 appearances for Villa, but City still made him their most expensive signing.

Well he's a gamble thats for sure. He could either be brilliant or a complete waste of time. No club is paying him 15m a year wages now. Not even close. City are obliged through their contract but are desperate to dump. If they dont want to pay the whole lot then negotiate and save yourself 7 or 8m. Otherwise play him in the caraboa cup for your 15m a year.
Id take grealish at Everton. On the right deal.

Yep I can see the point you are making and I’m in agreement with some of it.

However if we do have the financial wriggle room and there is a deal to be done there could be some significant upside on the pitch.

It’s not too dissimilar to when we took Rodriguez on really, it was a bit of a gamble but Grealish not made of glass and we would expect to see more of him on the pitch.

Out of the huge number of professional footballers how many have walked away from that staggering amount of money and how many have enough that £16m is a negligible amount ?

Google which I accept is unreliable puts his net worth at around £20-30m so you think he’s greedy if he doesn’t walk away from at best half his net worth in 2 years to play for Everton ?

I love Everton with all my heart , I probably could have bought a couple of houses for what watching them has cost me over the decades but even I would have to think hard over waving goodbye to £16m quid to pull on the shirt
