2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Feels like a PR exercise. We say we wanted him to stay and are grateful for his time at the club, but he wanted too much dosh. He'll say he loves the club but was sadly unable to agree terms to stay. In the world of PSR, you wonder if another Prem club will offer him what he wants considering his terrible injury record and poor conversion rate other than the Ancelotti era. Perhaps Forest as another option to Wood with Awoniyi's terrible injury.

Cannot remember him having a decent shot from outside the box.

I appreciate it’s a weird metric to value a striker, but I’ve been unable to shake it.

Good luck wherever you go, Dom… well not too much luck but I hope you continue your 1 in 4 form injury free… but all parties are better off with you not here any more, I feel.

Well, you say all that. Thing is though, he gets chances and invariably misses. He's had enough chances over the last few years to at least weigh in with a not very spectacular return of 10 goals in a season. It's not good enough. We've seen players at Ipswich and Luton out score him in the last couple of seasons.
That is what I say, isn't it?

He's been unable to score enough goals over the last few years and - regardless of the reasons (which are, in my opinion, legitimate, and don't necessarily make him a bad player) - I don't see that changing. Ipso facto; has to leave

Glad about that. It was time. He may go on to another club and do well but he's not been good enough for us recently and we need to move on.

He hasn't , he can't strike a ball properly

Fair enough. I just find pointing to the players behind him as one of the reasons he doesn't score many as a false narrative. We've seen players in worse teams score more.

Don't get me wrong, I've said for years there's not enough goals and creativity in this team, and I still believe that to be the case, but you know what, there's never gonna be enough goals in the team when your number 9 is weighing in with 8 goals a season.
