Recommend me some 'metal' singers...

Been in a bit of a metal phase lately, but one thing that bugs me when I listen to almost any metal band for the first time these days is that most of the singers voices just grate on me. What type of metal singer do I like? Well, I can tolerate early Ozzy, Hetfield and Mustaine, whilst I adore the voice of Layne Staley and view the day Iron Maiden booted Paul D'ianno as the saddest day in metal history.

So, any recommendations?

Don't know how metal you want the metal to be, but just to cast a wide net: Testament, Breaking Benjamin, Katatonia, Queens Of The Stone Age, Tool, Opeth, Devin Townsend, Gojira, Insomnium, Spiritbox, Paradise Lost, Tremonti, Soil, In Mourning.

I think you'd really appreciate Phil Anselmo's vocal range of Pantera:

Then there's Chris Cornell of Soundgarden. There's a possibility you're enjoying Staley's Seattle tone:

Possibly Mike Patton:

I've been meaning to check Pantera out tbh. I sort of missed them back in the day, as I'd drifted away from metal by the mid 90's and I'd just not gotten around to checking them out.

Already a big fan of Soundgarden and FNM ;)
