Transfer Rumour Ben Doak

im also from this kind of background but the sport science and rehabilitation is a lot better know

i know people who've had major hamstring injuries and gone on to run sub 10 second 100m

i think with proper rehab, which you'd imagine we would get at liverpool, that he should be ok
I find this claim to be difficult to believe, 156 people in history have run Sub 10 second 100m.. I have no doubt that a few had major hamstring injuries before doing it, my doubt is that you know them.

it’s more fun and i’m to lady to edit

(lazy )

see what i did there ;)

….i’ve posted similar, it’s particularly risky for players reliant on pace.

The lad might turn out to have a robust career, but for big muscle injuries to surface at such a young age is a major concern. Not surprising the RS have given the sale a green light, he’s one I’d definitely avoid.

Would you sign this lad Eggs ?

That's Phil Jagielka's Everton career , very much reliant on pace and crunching challenges.

He & the club managed it very well.

…I presume that’s Jagielka’s record at Everton, rather than before we signed him. No, I wouldn’t sign him after that lot.

Of course, Doak could have a robust career but there’s certainly enough doubt already for me to invest circa £20m on him. I would certainly advise against it.

His thigh and hamstring problems started before Everton while a youngster at Sheffield.
Good job we never signed Peter Reid & Andy Gray then.

…I did say ‘major’ thigh injuries. 2 or 3 games missing is pretty lightweight, Branthwaite out at the moment isn’t a red flag but I’d have concerns about Tarkowski needing an operation after his recent hamstring.

It’s certainly not definitive, I’d put Barkley in the ‘don’t sign’ category but he seems to have done ok since his serious episode with us. James McCarthy on the other hand was never the same, he played with the choke out against Arsenal and looked back to himself but then it popped in the game afterwards against RS.

Let’s hope Doak is more Barkley than McCarthy.

I think this kid could be the real deal. Get him signed. Key is the homework on the lads background and attitude so we dont end up with a duffer that will sit back on a long contract.

Them thigh injuries are naughty but the lad is 19 and his body is still made of 18% Haribo. Don’t think he’s about to be shot and lashed in a tin of dog food yet. Modern science and rehab these days gives players unbelievable ability to recover and with him being so young, I wouldn’t be overly concerned. There is also less risk of him doing his thigh or hammy chasing after a snide Doucoure pass now too.
