2024/25 Tim Iroegbunam

I think his best performances were at the beginning of the season when he impressed a lot of fans—- I think Dyche was manager at the time, the doubts about him came after January ——when Moyes was in charge. I don’t think either manager was responsible for how he performed, time will tell how good he is.
He started well. Then got randomly dropped. Then had some poor cameo performances and got injured. There were some concerns pre Moyes but so far, Moyes hasn’t found how to get the best out of him (without sacrificing other areas of the team) while he was also returning from a lengthy lay off.

A season under Moyes will tell us a lot.
Reckon his head was wrecked by Dyche.
Will he get game time under Moyes if he gets the mids he wants?
Could be a back up to Charlie at 10
His position is definitely further forward, his pressing late in games has been effective at times...coupled with his ability to drive one is a good mix. I worry about how/if he ill ever develop further back in the midfield...which is where Dyche and Moyes have used him.

He was obviously brought in as a bit of a shady PSR swap deal with Dobbin. I wouldn't be surprised to see him move on, think Moyes will want an upgrade or 2 in that midfield.

Dropping him wasn't random. He showed some good flashes and we were all very excited because there was very little else to get excited about, but he also showed some pretty glaring weaknesses and it wasn't a massive surprise to see him not keep his place. I think there's a lot to like about him but he's got to improve some areas of his game massively if he wants to be successful at the top level.

We lost 4 in a row with our midfield being absolutely walked through so I’m not sure how he was ‘randomly’ dropped. Then we tightened up once he was out of the team and Mangala was in. Nothing more than a classic case of a young player who is good on the ball but didn’t know his position. Moyes probably saw that and realised he needed to be developed but he had experienced options in Garner Gueye Doucoure and even Alcaraz who all could play whilst Iroegbunam developed his minutes.

Yep, 4 games played, 4 defeats, 13 goals conceded. Totally random.

Defensive side of his game needs tightening up for sure, but then again I think he has some of the attributes to be deployed further forward anyway. Trouble is that we don't really play with a 'number 8' these days and he probably isn't the answer for an out-and-out 'number 10' either..

Didn't Michael Keane play in those games?

Not everything bad that has happened to this club is Michael Keane's fault.

Teams were playing right through us. He showed ability to carry the ball and break up play at times, but he was not ready to start PL matches at the beginning of last season.

Just coincidence that we never won a game when Keane started then when Branthwaite returned we won. Therefore, my blame is more on Keane than Tim

Yes you were quick enough to blame one man as in Tim but forgot the main culprit
Well no I didn't blame one man at all, because I'm not 3. Our problems at the time were down to many different issues, and Keane was undoubtedly one of them. All I was saying was that the dropping of Iroegbunam wasn't random, and anyone who actually understood what they were watching and didn't just get blinded by the odd slide tackle or good pass could see that he was another of the problems. Hardly unexpected when you're a young, inexperienced lad who was bought at least in part as a PSR swindle so it's not a massive issue, just saying there were clearly some quite big flaws in his game which will need to be addressed if he's going to kick on.
