2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

It's total recency bias but having re watched the highlights this morning I'm erring towards get rid.

I don't care how long he'd been on the pitch or his recent injury that was a shocking miss.

I'm aware it might not be an either/or scenario but I'm heavily leaning towards team Beto. He's not perfect either but the lad really wants it and tries his hardest to improve.
Of the two Beto has to be first choice if we buy no other striker, and if Dom were to stay, hopefully on a reduced wage reflecting this status, he would need to earn first choice back.

I imagine Moyes is thinking the same and saying that to him too

We are buying a striker.

Beto deserves to be part of the squad whereas DCL is injured prone, cannot hit the brothel and ran down his contract till now while asking for insane cash (from some media posts). I don’t know why we want a striker who cannot score.

I don’t believe the club will be stupid enough to offer him a deal to stay at this point.

Doesn’t bode well if they do.

Had his best game in an Everton shirt in years against spurs under Moyes, then got injured.

A lot seem to forget that under Dyche we rarely played football and DCL would get one or two chances the whole game which added so much pressure on him to score.

He is not on the decline but needs a run of games which I don’t think currently he will get here.

If you are having to resort to using him having one decent game in about 5 years to make a case for keeping him, I think that’s a bit telling isn’t it.

Been a decent player for us over the years. Was thrown in at th deep end from an early age and really had to do it the hard way. Became a decent premier league striker and his all-round game is good. His fitness and his inability to finish at times have held him back from being one of the league's best though.

I think it's the right time for both club and player to move on, I wish him every success in whatever he does next.

On the right deal, I would keep him.
