TV Series

Gave up on Star Wars stuff as it’s all looked so dreadful for ages, but gave Andor a go after reading good reviews.

Just finished season 1 and it’s genuinely top notch. Main fella looks distractingly like Leighton Baines though.
Season 1 started slow, didn't really know what was going on the first 2 episodes, but it soon sped up.

Season 2 is the same. First bunch of episodes sets everything up, and bosh, great 2nd half.

I didn’t mind the slow-ish pace to start, but yeah once it gets going I was properly invested in the story and characters. The few episodes in the prison was a great mini movie in and of itself.

Season 2 of the last of us is predictably not as good as the first, still pretty solid but fully expected a drop off. Like the game the story was complete in series 1 and didn't need a sequel.

That being said the online hate bombing from pathetic right wing incels is as childish and over the top as you would expect from that crowd
Yeah it's (inevitably) wandered into The Walking Dead trap, a melodrama with some incidental zombie action along the way.

The thing is, normally tv series don’t fall into the melodrama / soap opera trap after two series, as the series is still “ fresh “ and there’s no need to start with plodding scripts, which usually come around series four and onwards.

To go stale in series two is really poor writing.

Think it’s a bit harsh to say The Last of Us has gone stale. They are trying to be as faithful to the games as possible while also adapting the story for screen.

The second game took about 35 hours to finish so it is a very tough job to translate that for TV. I thought the last episode was great and there have been a few other really good ones too.

I think it won’t be possible to properly judge this part of the story until after season 3.

I'm still livid about Black Summer getting binned. That should be the blueprint for all apocalypse shows.

If this part of the story continues to be as poor, a lot of viewers will drop before season 3 is complete. My wife has already given up. I'll see the season out but it's a struggle. It needs something fairly spectacular for me to consider starting a 3rd season.
