I think it must have been quite sobering for the hierarchy of the club today and the current players. When they look at the calibre of some of our former players on the pitch Kay, Royle, Latchford, Reid, Steven, Bracewell etc that is the standard you need to win and compete for titles.
It says everything how much playing for this great club meant to the former players, that so many of them were there. Great day.
