New Everton Stadium

It was never going to be 'ready' for half way through the season, tbf. It was just going to be handed over, and it was, a day early.

That’s not what the club were putting out though - they made out it was a big decision to either move mid season or wait until the new one.

Im not sure whether moving mid season whas ever a consideration. As I remember it, it was just a notification that we would be moving in the new season. I mean, I wasnt alone in thinking that it would have been near impossible to have moved at that time amd had they got everything done, even in a shortened timescale, then we may have had like 2 months at the new place, with about 3 games.

Hadn't it also been stated that it was always in their plan to removed the pitch that was laid for the test events. That pitch was never fit for PL level football.

‘If the build remains on schedule, it raises the question whether the club moves mid season, or alternatively, do we wait and give the grand old lady a fitting send off before commencing games at the beginning of 2025/26 season.

‘The decision will be reached in consultation with fans.. etc etc.’

Colin Chong wrote quite a bit about the decision the club had to make. Before announcing in Dec 2023 that we would wait for the start of the season.
