2024/25 Nathan Patterson

….i’m saying Young is without doubt the better player now. My post was highlighting his pedigree, something Patterson can only aspire to.

It’s purely a reflection on Patterson that we have a 39 year old who is still superior to him. What an opportunity he’s had at Everton to become a top flight full-back but he’s demonstrated he’s a long way short despite having an open goal to make that position his own.

There’s simply no excuses.

He’s not superior to him though. You just tried to use his medal collection from 10 years ago as evidence, which means nothing. It’s not 2013 anymore and Young is 40 and can barely waddle across a football pitch.

I think you should judge him after a run of games and not just 2 games. Sure he's defensively ropey but so was Coleman at first, Patterson at least gives us attacking width and with Moyes coaching he may improve his end product and defensive issues. Strange why so many fans are seemingly willing him to fail 🤷
I don't think so many fans want him to fail, there's only a couple in here and that's because of his ex club. Most of us want every Everton player to play to their full potential, and after quite a few opportunities he just hasn't grabbed it.

I agree he hasn't but my argument is he needs a run of games to be judged on definitively. Unlike a lot on here I thought he looked promising under Lampard until his injuries stopped his progress

….seriously, it’s ludicrous naming Gary Neville and Ashley Young in comparison to Patterson. Young is still superior at 39, which pretty much says everything.

Posters defending Patterson demonstrate how accustomed Evertonians have become with mediocracy.
Haha
So says the poster that thinks Moyes is right playing Doucoure every game when every man and his dog with eyes can see Doucoure actually one of the worst footballers to ever play for us.
It's gutwrenching watching him.

Maybe it's you that is now accustomed to accepting mediocrity.

…I’m not sure I’ve said Moyes is ‘right’ in playing Doucoure, I’ve consistently said I understand why he plays Doucoure. Managers are different to posters on here, team selection is their job, points is their job.

Moyes picked the players posters wanted yesterday & apparently we had the worst XG of any team playing Ipswich this season. Maybe after 700 games managing in the top flight, he has an idea of what he’s doing.

That is all we've ever wanted

He's a young lad with potential & the right coaching to be a decent full back for us.
He was never getting that under Dyche who persisted playing his best mate week in week out.
Some posters saying Young was good for us earlier in the season, maybe he was for half a dozen games . But they have very selective memories when he was abysmal last season and costing the club points in plenty of games.

Give Patterson a run ( if he can stay fit and injury free ).
If he then isn't good enough then that's fine move him on , it won't be the first or last time that's happened.

….its a sad reflection that a bloke who can ‘barely waddle across a football pitch’ is still deemed superior to Nathan Patterson

If you "understand " why he plays him then that is the epitome of accepting mediocrity.

Btw
One Mickey Mouse trophy in 700 top flight games tells you all you need to know about him & why he'll never be considered to be a top manager.

Plays because we have precious little physicality anywhere on the pitch outside defence. Was noticable yesterday how keen ipswich were to turn the game into a battle. Delap tried to instigate some flannel with both CB's and they couldn't kick N'Diaye and McNeil and Patterson enough. We needed a brute of our own doling out retribution. The easiest way in the fastest most physical league in the world to win is to boot the opposition into touch.

Plus played a Centre Half at Right back since he came here.
Even Moyes knows he's finished.

Moyes worked out after that abomination of a performance against Villa in his first game that he was finished. Look at his minutes since that game. Apparently he still thinks he’s our best RB though, which is weird as he never actually starts him.
