Last Film You Watched

Just watched sinners tonight and I was blown away by how good the film was. For a vampire film, I wasn’t expecting the story or the acting to be that good. The cast ensemble was really good but Michael B Jordan was incredible.

It’s a solid 8.5/10 for me, probably the best film I’ve seen this year so far.
Is that available on a streaming platform?

If you’ve seen the trailer then it’s pretty obvious already
I was so annoyed that they gave it away in the trailer. I’d seen the early trailer which didn’t give anything away and decided not to read or see anything else about it before seeing it.

Then the last trailer came on in the cinema and blindsided me. So stupid to put that reveal in.

Watched this the other night. A very peculiar movie.

It's an experimental horror about 2 very young kids who wake up one night to find their father gone and all the external doors and windows in the house have disappeared.
It's filmed in this very lo-fi grainy style with the cameras always off kilter and framed so you can't really see what's going on. Sometimes from fixed positions and sometimes POV.

There are parts of this that are some of the creepiest horror scenes I've watched, the atmosphere is extremely foreboding and feels like a surreal nightmare.

However it feels like this would have worked better as a short film as it is and hour and 40 mins long and you feel like you've seen all it has to offer by the 40 minute mark. What you see in the trailer is essential what this entire movie is. The whole thing becomes more and more surreal and dreamlike as the movie progresses to the point it gets extremely difficult to work out wtf is going on most of the time.

Interesting if you are looking for something different. As a concept, it has a lot of potential and is genuinely creepy as hell throughout but way overstays its welcome.

This write up made me think of 'Jacobs ladder', (1990).

Day off so decided to go the flicks to see Warefare on me billy.

Thought it was decent and as others have said the sound is amazing. The IED scene…
Has to be seen in the cinema really to do it justice.

My only gripe being that you would think it was the teams first day in the military as opposed to being Navy Seals.

Went last night and it’s my film of the year so far.

The music is such a big part of it, that it’s almost a musical by default.

I agree with what @jaycee said about it being like two films that have been joined in the middle.

I’d add to that- if you don’t know what it’s about and unless you pick up the tiny hints in the first part of the film, the first part could just be another well done Deep South film, about racism, with a banging soundtrack.

They got the cast right, the cinematography, combined with the sets are sumptuous and the score was off the scale good.

I can guarantee you, that you’ll never see Jack O’Connell in a role like this again too - he goes full on Nic Cage with the overacting and looks like he’s having a ball.

For anyone planning to go, whatever you don’t leave when the credits come on !

Fantastic film and one I’d like to watch again and really study it, as there’s so much going on in the second part, it’s like an assault on the senses and I’m sure you’d miss stuff as a result.
