i think the only thing they can really do is offer place to sit and queue safely, isn’t much else they can do is there?

If they had half a brain they'd build a platform on that side of the track they've cleared to service the nearside line and then convert the island platform just to serve the far side.

Problem is they've still got to find the tin man and cowardly lion before dancing their way to the Emerald City to get the brains, heart and courage, to do the right bloody thing!
