F1 2025 (and other motorsports)

That is just unreal bad luck for Oscar, as he's absolutely pissing the race it's now all closed back up and he's got a right job on his hands.

Great drives from Piastri and Russell. Decent race overall.

Im fairly confident we will see Piastri and Norris properly race each other once we get a bit deeper into the season.

McLaren is clearly the best car but it doesn't look that dominant when in dirty air like some other dominant cars over the years.

Has to be said though that whilst the McLaren is clearly the best car if it gets stuck behind other quick cars it's not an easy job to overtake them. In clean air it's untouchable.
Clean air is killer for everyone. Lewis was untouchable in that sprint too.

Really good race, lots of overtaking and it was interesting the whole way through. Piastri was dominant, good job from Russell but Norris, a really scruffy weekend despite a good recovery.

Good to see Verstappen struggle and shame he pipped Gasly at the very end.

Ferrari looked decent and some good overtakes from Hamilton. Hopefully they can compete with McClaren for the podium and possibly victories.

Also a shame for Antonelli. Why did they pit him again during the safety car?

Of course they preferred Norris last season, he comfortably outperformed Piastri for the majority of that season in both qualifying and race trim and he was the only guy with an outside hope of winning the title. They should have supported him more, like in Hungary... although looking back it still wouldn't have been enough to catch Verstappen.

Also very confused how anyone can think Piastri has better raw pace than Lando when the benchmark for raw pace is qualifying and Lando outqualified him 21-3 last season.

Piastri has looked more competitive this season though which bodes well for a potential title scrap between them

Looks like Piastri has really raised his game this season. The better driver on current form, and in wheel to wheel combat might be better full stop. Lando needs to get it together sooner rather than latter, and will be interesting to see if he can reassert his dominance once he does. My feeling is that he is pushing too hard atm trying to get the most he can out of a car that is tricky for him to drive. He'd probably be .25s quicker if he didn't try driving an extra 0.1s quicker.

Edit: still decent odds on Piastri for the WDC btw. 3/1 or something like that iirc.

Even the 2014-18 ear Merc struggled somewhat when it wasn't out front. Just their engine advantage back then meant they nearly always started ahead of everyone.
