2024/25 David Moyes

You’re in the wrong place if you can’t celebrate a 94th minute winner or you’re criticising those who do.

Here you go again.

I think you'll find that im not critcising anyone for celebrating.

This is a new approach as well. Deflecting when you’re called out for a quite bizarre viewpoint.

You’re entitled to whatever opinion you want mate, just as much as the vast majority of us are to call you out on them.

You can call people out as much as you like.

What i dont agree with is trying to tell people what to do or think.

People pop corks for different reasons.

You don’t find it quite bizarre not celebrating a last minute winner for your team away from home then?

The additional bonus we can all take a crumb of comfort from is Doucoure’s celebration and post match comments. The club have not approached him about any form of extension even on reduced terms. Now they may well do so on reduced terms but given how little is left of the season, it tells me that it’s looking increasingly likely he will not be offered one.

Not sure about Alcaraz but I get the impression Moyes is after better players which may bode well, for transfer spend in the summer.

Doucoure has had years to earn himself a new contract. Playing up with a goal when the pressure is off means nothing unfortunately. I’ll give him a bit of a free pass for his time here because of the goal against Bournemouth but that doesn’t mean we should extend it. Even in the two derbies he’s missed multiple chances that were easier than that one. We need player who turn up most weeks not just the odd one.

Everton will finish 11-17th.

There is NOTHING to play for.

I am a stranger on the internet that you're trying to guess the thoughts of :)

As I have constantly repeated, Moyes should be playing those who will be able to make a positive impact next season.

This is not Harrison or Broja. As for Doucoure hes starting ahead of superior players.

Pretty obvious that my point is a logical one.
To be fair mate...there is money at stake due to league position that will help with PSR.

I also think it will be good to finish the season on a high and hopefully take some momentum into the summer.

I dont think you'll find a huge amount of United or Spurs fans celebrating league results at the moment.

Should i pop out the champagne if we finish 11th?
Got plenty of mates who are United fans, they still celebrate when they win.

We aren’t United or Spurs either, we’ve had about 4 years of relegation battles.

Nobody is saying that at all, 11th isn’t what we’d like long term is it. But not being able to celebrate a goal because you’re frustrated about who the manager is playing or who the manager is* suggests you aren’t enjoying football for the right reasons.

That’s just incorrect.

Prize money matters a great deal for PSR.

You mention a difference of 6 positions.

They’re worth £2.8 million each (based on last season’s figures) - making a top to bottom difference of £16.8 million.

That’s significant enough to force us to sell a player we want to keep.

Just skimming by this isn’t he.

100 pee cent. Why not aspire to win all of our remaining fixtures, particularly with respect to doing justice to the old lady.

With games 6 games left and the pressure off Moyes is probably telling them to be professional but to enjoy it...for to long have the players been playing under duress.

Personal pride will want Moyes finishing as high up the league as possible.

It builds momentum, sets foundations for how we want to play next season (hopefully with better players) and as you say it’s a proper send off for the old girl.

There’s also the matter of sold out away allocations every other weekend who demand performances. I don’t know how anyone can get that disconnected from what football is really about.

Sure its good to finish as high as possible in the bottom half of the table.

Is it going to inspire fans to cheer a 11th, 14th or 17th place finish?

Dunno. I'd prefer to use players that will push the team on next season.

Football is a sport for everyone. Who is to say why others watch it.

They haven’t been battling relegation for years.

Were a bigger club than spurs. Ive seen enough relegation battles to grow tired of them and never seen us relegated.

I dont see it as a reason to cheer.

Indeed. Its not the first thought i have tbh.

Moyes' tactics were spot on. That and perhaps Forest had an off-day (Elanga a sub and Wood + Murillo poor) with pressure or tiredness?

Your last sentence...are you inferring that this:

Harrison....Doucoure...Ndiaye...
...................Broja

Is superior to;

McNeil......Alcaraz....Ndiaye
...................Beto

Because for me, there is no way Moyes either went with the best players nor did he have an eye on next season.

I have no complaints on points, tactics or suchlike but he should be using our better players and trying to see if partnerships gel in these 'meaningless' games.

Everyone wants to win every match.

But lets be honest here -- its short term thinking to see Broja, Doucoure and Harrison playing. They arent the better players, they dont 'deserve' a starting place and they arent going to bring the club success.

When that Doucoure goal went in my first reaction wasnt to cheer. I just sat back and thought Moyes will now continue to favour Doucoure, Harrison and Broja.

Big picture...they shouldnt be playing.
You’re a miserable if that was your first reaction
