…he’s a CM who can be effective in any central position, he’s obviously not a conventional no10 but I think it was 20 points gained from games he scored in last season.

I know he’s not widely rated on here but successive managers see him as vital to the team for a reason. If he immediately gets his place back this weekend it will tell us lots. I’ll be happy when he’s not one of the first names on the team sheet but I fully understand why he is.

I was thinking the other day, if I was in a promoted team he would be one Id be straight on the phone too. He would be any of Leeds, Sheff U, Burnleys best/most effective player.

They will all probably spend a fortune on guys who are too small and weak to play in this league though instead.

…he’s a professional footballer with a team of advisors and representatives, these fella’s are like a PLC. He’ll get the best deal he can possibly get even if staying here is his preference.

It could be his last big contract, he’ll want it to be a good one.
Oh so you think the same way about other players, like Coleman?

Can’t be having our full midfield doing Ramadan like in previous years with Gueye, Doucoure and Onana because it definitely has an impact.

Keep him on the bench for March and give Alcaraz a run of games.

Agreed , we need some 6ft blonde haired , blue eyed superior midfielders

You're mad if you think he won't be here next season. It's absolutely nailed on, I've been saying it for ages. I hope I'm wrong, it's time to move on from him, particularly on his current wages, but I'm almost certain we won't.

How can it be “nailed on” if we just said we aren’t taking up the option?

  • Everton have triumphed in just one of their 23 Premier League matches without Abdoulaye Doucoure since the beginning of the 2022-23 season, but have won 33.8% of games when he has been involved.

Can also say we won’t 8 matches in a calandar year when he was a regular and were amongst the lowest scorers in Europe with him as number 10

Are you mad
He offers absolutely nothing in a deeper role, he’s a liability because he can’t control or pass the football. His only strength is running around and pressing and being aggressive. And that will deteriorate as he gets older, which we’re are staying to see. He’s virtually playing as a second striker and has 2 goals in 25, so he doesn’t even offer goals now

….Moyes would clearly disagree. He’s always been dreadful in possession yet I think he’s been critical to maintaining our top flight status in recent times. I remember him getting sent off against Spurs and posters were wondering how we’d cope without him.

I’ve always appreciated what he brings to the team, what he’s done for this club but I’ll be chuffed when we’re able to progress without him. Saying that, he’ll probably be required for a bit just yet. I like him.
