Yes I agree, was more about we should be targa first choice midfielder and if play him with gana next season, but gana will need breaks and there’s injuries as well. I wouldn’t be buying another Tim, or a Josh brownhill who will be 4th choice every week
Oh, 100% agree, another first choice midfielder would go a long way - was such a shame when Mangala went down for the season

It works for plenty of clubs, Eddie Howe is the only person in the current top 12 I would describe as a managerial type, the rest are more training ground guys. I have no doubt they like to be kept abreast of what is going on transfer wise but ultimately would rather be out on the grass with the players.
Unai Emery is another one I think. He demanded total control on being hired by Villa and he appointed his own DOF basically.

Delap, Hutchinson, KWP and Dibling all improve us. I’d take Greaves as a Keane replacement too

The challenge of buying young British players with Premier league experience is that their current teams demand huge amounts of money, unless they are out of contract. I think we would get more value for money looking at other leagues and not being so obsessed with premier league experience.

I'm not sure you get much better for £30m.

£30m isn't much in todays market
I think that was our thinking for too long, personally - and it lead to our ranks being filled by mediocre, ageing talents.

There are shrewd buys to be had.

Take a certain 22 year old Argentinian international showing promise, for example. £12.5 million is the agreement to buy him.

I think there are plenty of players for that if you have decent scouting, and ones that dont have a big injury asterisk. Maybe if we had seen him play under Moyes we could see a different side of him, but with the likes of NDiaye and OBrien available at less than 20m, I think there are better options.

Have they got any? Not what I’ve seen of Saints or Ipswich.
Would take Kyle Walker Petere on a free immediately, an experienced guy who could step in day one on either side of full back without spending a penny. Would just have to be firm with wages. Would let you invest in another full back for depth too given the lack of outlay.

Delap is one I think everyone would want but they will be asking for 40/50 million minimum.

Not sure how reliable this West Ham ITK is, but these persistent links are very underwhelming. Not the kind of player we should be going for this summer.

Unfortunately, I can see Moyes favouring the same qualities that he does in Doucs that he does in Soucek. They're both effective footballers in the final third albeit devoid of any technical ability. I'd lean slightly in favour of Soucek, actually, which in a funny way would make him an upgrade. Not the upgrade we want, obviously.

Lashing any money at a 30 year old manager favourite would just be an immediate return to the Moshiri era. We surely have to have learned from history.
Agree, but we also need a squad of players that doesn't require us having a bench of goalies and untested youths. This summer will be a fine balancing act between strengthening the 11 and strengthening the squad
