Jarrad Branthwaite open to new Everton contract
Speaking live on Sky Sports News [28 February], Vicky Gommarsall said: “Jarrad Branthwaite would be open to discussing a new contract with the club, but they are going to fight to keep the defender this summer.

“The England centre-back is expected to have intense interest from a number of top clubs around Europe, including several in the Champions League – Liverpool, Man City and Spurs are among those to track Branthwaite. Real Madrid are said to have sent scouts.
It would be the most Everton thing in history to take all the goodwill generated by the new stadium, new ownership, the return of Moyes and ruin it all by selling Branthwaite to the RS in the summer! Surely TFG aren't that stupid?

Are you sure? Have a look at his entire 11 years. How many of the transfer windows he had you would call good? There were couple that were transformative but then there were stinkers.

2011: McFadden, Drenthe, Straqualursi, Hahnemann, Vellios.
2010: Mucha, Beckford, Senderos and Donovan.
2005: Neville, van der Meyde, Kröldrup, Davies, Arteta, Valente, Silva, Ruddy, Ferrari. One excellent signing apart, not great.
2011 there, quite possibly the greatest transfer window of any club, ever, in the entire history of football. Anyone who argues otherwise is an idiot.

Oh, no, hang on...

So when you think about it, a fabulous night for Everton at the Oscars.

If they’ve made the decision not to retain Thelwell, then they should pay up the rest of his contract NOW and get the new man in to prepare for the summer. There is obviously so much work to do that they can’t just wait until the season finishes to start getting busy. If they don’t see Thelwell here beyond this season, then what is the point of keeping him on now? He can’t make any summer plans or do anything worthwhile because they’ll just be ripped up when the new man walks in.

Yeah, here's "the different recruitment model" they have in mind:

  • Moyes as manager and player recruitment executive
  • Wor Kenny as assistant to Wor Davie as head scout
  • Wor dad as assistant head scout to Wor Kenny
That lot are going to rake it in like the 11 years they were here last time.

'Many a mickle-maks-a-muckle' is the Moyes family motto. The family crest is a cash machine.

Man gets paid for doing a job.

You really are the weirdest.

Not sure how that equates to TFG meaning business, it sounds more like them just handing over all the power at the club to our 61 year old manager by appointing people he knows and likes. It doesn't really sound like the best future planning to be honest.

It's a bit harsh to include 2 windows where we literally didn't sign anybody for actual money and say it's evidence of Moyes not knowing what he's doing.

You’ve just told people to look at his entire 11 years, and then proceeded to cherry pick 3 transfer windows, conveniently missing out 5 entire years in between two of them, and then picking out a summer window in which we had no money and had to sell our best player
