When he starts getting Lescott goal numbers, he's done. They'll be scratching each others eyes out to get him in.

The real fear should be if O'Brien looks even better at RCB alongside him, because someone might swoop for the pair. When was the last time we saw a CB pair move? Was it Southgate Ehiogu? It's Friday evening, and my history has never been that hot.

I dont think he's ready for a higher-level tbh.

This season he's plateaued.

I'm confident we wont be seeing a bid we cant refuse.
I wondered what the next sacred cow for sacrifice would be now that you've almost rung the stadium dry. Fair play, Dave, I wasn't expecting it to be "Branthers".

Have you got a source for that please..that sale had Bill's fingerprints all over it, the club was in a financial mess at thd time, talk was Rooney had to be sold.

Rooney himself said that Everton were trying to sell him and wanted to sell him to Chelsea as they offered the most money .

He said after learning that he said if im leaving I will go to where I want to go too , which was United

That’s straight from Rooney’s mouth … think it was talking to beliw …

But dave has other info , he knows more , sounds like him and Moyes sent a lot of time together with all the inside info he has

Stop making stuff up @davek

In his biography Rooney tells of how Moyes got a cab on with him fir being the only one off the coaching staff not to get an invite to his engagement party; he said that was the blue touch paper lit on the decline in his relationship with him. He stated that Moyes informed him that Liverpool were in for him with a bid and the club were looking at it.

JB need be in no rush to leave, he is still very young, still learning and still making the odd mistake.

A transfer fee of 70m on his head would suddenly magnify and poor performances and put him under pressure he doesn't need at the moment.

I don't think that playing with Everton has hindered his career in the slightest and maybe he has even benefitted from playing in a team that was struggling.
If we get a big money offer from Madrid or city then fair enough I'd understand him wanting to go....

You don't turn down madrid

I dont suppose you have a source you could link for this?

I mean I did some research and I cant find anything to back up your claims.

"And obviously being an Everton fan, we weren’t really going to win anything. So my best way of having a go at Liverpool fans was Man United winning. I grew up watching them. Then the minute I knew Manchester United were interested in signing me, I was like that’s the only place I’m going,"
''I was playing for an under-nines side and was approached by a scout and invited to Melwood. I went along, but after I wet once, an Everton scout came on the phone and asked me to go there. It was the call that desperately wanted and I gave Liverpool a swerve after that. But as a young lad wanting to be a professional I had to go to Liverpool when I was asked. There was no other club interested in me at the time, but as soon as Everton came in there was never a single doubt in mind.'' - Wayne Rooney, June 2003.

“I knew it [joining United] was an option before Euro 2004,” Rooney said. “I knew Manchester United wanted to sign me.

“I think going to the Euros and doing well there probably added a bit more money onto the transfer fee but I broke my foot and found out a few things.

“Everton were really struggling for money at the time and I found out they were listening to offers from people as well.

“They were trying to push me to sign for Chelsea because they were going to pay the most money. But, once I knew United were interested, I wanted some confirmation that they did want to sign me.”

When United came calling, the conversation was over as far as Rooney was concerned.

“Once I knew they did want to sign me, it was the only club [for me] as I wanted to work with Sir Alex Ferguson and play with Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Roy Keane, Rio Ferdinand, these players, so I knew where I wanted to go.

“It was 40 minutes from my home, where I grew up, as well and it was a perfect fit for me. United actually wanted to wait a year, until the following year, but then Newcastle came into talks with Everton and with myself.

“I'd gone too far then. I couldn't wait another year, I couldn't stay another year at Everton, so I was prepared to go to Newcastle for that year.

“I spoke to them, we spoke about salary and what I wanted if I went there was, after a year, if Manchester United come in, you have to let me go.

“Newcastle were agreeing to that but obviously, with United, I went back to them and said, if you don't do it now, I'll go to Newcastle with a clause in place. United obviously didn't want me to go there so I came here.

“It was basically whatever Newcastle paid for me, United would have paid a year later.”

I personally cant find a single quote linking him to Liverpool, ever.

I've loaned out my Rooney biography so I cant tell you the page. But he defo said one time that Moyes told hi that Liverpool were in for him and that he was furious that Moyes was using that to get him to sign for United or Chelsea. I cant find reference to it online.

Someone else on here will remember.

You'd lose money on that if you bet against it.

I do recall Rooney saying that they had a bit of dissagreement in training and Moyes said 'I will sell you to Liverpool' to wind him up, so I dont think there was ever anythingin him being sold to the rs.
