I think, no matter what, there has to be someone in charge of recruitment that is aligned with the first team manager, too many times we have seen players be signed that the manager does not use, or uses them incorrectly or in the wrong positions. That is just a waste of time and money.

Previously Moyes famously had 3 players for each position on the recruitment plan, which is how it should be

Im fully behind the DoF model, when it works, so far it hasnt worked at Everton.

What I mean is the disconnect we saw regarding players the DoF brought in and the players the manager wanted.

Beto and JOB are just 2 examples.

IF nothing else, we finally know the answer to the question "who signed who".

Every single buck will stop at Moyes.
I think that is fair comment, we often see players isolated after they arrive at the club because the manager didn't want them.

I wonder what the new scouting/signing format will be, I find it hard to believe David Moyes will be able to fill that function as well.

I feel sorry for KT, assuming the decision to leave was not his, he came into an absolute maelstrom of trouble, he managed to move on unwanted players , cut wages and with practically no funds managed to bring some decent players to the club in O Brien, Garner, Iroegbunam, Beto, McNeill and Ndiaye.

Maupay I think was the biggest blunder and even now you wonder could it have been different for him under DM?

They won a European trophy under him...It can't have been that bad.

This "old boys club" shout carries absolutely not weight.

We think in these terms because Kenwright surrounded himself with cronies.

Weir and Doherty are hardly slumming it in the Scottish league 1 are they.
100%

The style of Moyes football has progressed in the decade since he left us. No longer just backs against the wall but a sleek counter attacking system with plenty of support.

Even looking at WHam they are just a homeless Everton when you see the style they play now.

I’m alll for that going forwards. Just the transition from Moyes to ANOther had better not be as appalling as the’ve seen down in Lahndan!

Pathetic and disgraceful decision.

Summer window we need a huge amount of work to be done and suddenly we go into the coming months, without the DOF during the window ?

Absolute insanity.

As they did at Roma...now the carnage comes to Everton.
If it is done before the end of the season and by the looks of it with this news then looks like we will have one. If they think is a better optioj then fine, is time if they bring one now before the end is time as they will talk to moyes and already have contacts around the game so we can go after targets to fit the squad

Not remotely surprising. If the Friedkins do indeed have big plans for the club, they will want the best man they can get in world football for the role. If this job was advertised tomorrow, would Thelwell really be the best man in world football for it? I can't imagine he'd get an interview.

I wouldn't be one bit surprised if the manager goes too, in the summer.

Started off well about Thelwell.

Bizarre comment about changing the manager. That would be the last thing we need.

Agree with people daying it should not be just moyes because the game has moved on. Is about building a structure here network of scouts fixing the academy getting it so we can get better talent in and get them sold or into the squad.

When the manager is a fraud the disconnect is inevitable.

I said it wouldn't;t ages ago mate.

Itls not us.

That said I dont want Wor Davie who's way out of the game now choosing our players. Thelwell was ok.

As I said on here before, the club has not publicly revealed the lenght of his contract. That is unusual. Moyes's reaction to the robbery last weekend was remarkably muted. Throw in the distinct lack of transfer activity in January and his admission that he has not yet visited the new stadium, and one wonders if his tenure is shorter than people expect.

I have no issue with him staying on for another year. But I expect these Americans will want their own stamp on the club soon enough.
