It's hard to tell generally what a DOF does. And it varies a lot from club to club. Especially at Brighton where it looks like it's a club where the DOF has less of a role in recruitment than at other clubs I think. Personally I think a lot of Brighton's signings from last summer will come good, but it's debatable what role Weir had in recruiting them
I wonder this a lot - either he isn't involved heavily in recruitment, in which case what HAS he done that's so great, or he is heavily involved, in which case some of it is pretty questionable.

Agree, I think DoF is one of those positions people love to hate
He managed well during a difficult time, the odd dud (maupay) but most of his recent signings have been good, Ndiaye, JOB, mangala etc, even Beto is scoring goals now, a lot of people forget that players can take time to settle
Im a little wary of too much turmoil personally.
Thought he had done enough to warrant seeing what he could do with a bit more leeway in the transfer market.
I’d hoped for some stability with the new owners but having seen their approach to managers & CEOs at Roma, now this, I fear we may be in for a bumpy ride ahead.

*despite the short nature of the contract, this departure makes me think Moyes has offered an a opinion on the role. Wonder if he thinks he can do a SAF mk2 with us?
