DCL only had two games under Moyes so far and scored in one didn’t he? (I might be misremembering but think that’s right!) I can see him improving a lot as well tbh. It’s amazing what some actual coaching does for a player.

It would be lovely to have both DCL and Beto improved and either fighting it out for a place or maybe seeing what they are like in a 442

Love a fairly limited player forging a career as a professional footballer purely through determination and unrelenting effort.

Everyone knew he could finish and could run fast and slot whilst holding a defender off. Thats what he does, not too much else. To take this long to be allowed to do that is bonkers.

Great to see a player reaching their ceiling, even if it’s not that high. Many don’t.

You say this as though it’s not a worthy trait. Finishing 1v1 is one of the most sort after attributes. We just need to play to his strengths.

He’s not a bad player at all. That’s a complete myth.

Man of the match for me. His hold up play and link up play was brilliant. He had a very tough task on his hands with those two absolute mutants they have at CB. He showed fantastic composure on his goal as well.

I thinknhes got a bucket load of work to do to get to a decent level when it comes to hokd9ng the ball up and laying it off. Last night was probably the most times he's ever actually had thr ball under control and he had a tendency of not looking up and what's around him for a forward pass and passed it backwards

BUT

It was a vast improvement on what we've seen these last 12 months so it shows he's getting worked on.

I mentioned around Christmas time I'd watched a video if him at Udinese and his strength was the run in behind his defender. Thats his real quality and we've found him 3 times and he's slotted each time. That won't always be the case but that is a very good talent to have when each finish he's made as uncomplicated as possible.

If he keeps getting coached to work on the other part of his game, there's no reason there wouldn't be another 6-7 goals for him and if we did end up selling, we'd very recouping our initial outlay
