New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

Did u see that pic from the West Stand in the echo showing that media section u picked up on at the back? The side nearest to the north I reckon will be dodgy af to see the south. That media sections seems to be elevated higher than the standard rows.

See if you can find it and let me know what you think.

I see the ones braving it in the corner are doing so at the front. The real person with balls of steel goes for that back row 😆

This one?

Just doesn't make sense why they extended it into the middle of the next block. If you need more media seats, do it from both sides and end with a diagonal so the top row has more seats than the lower one.

I love the stadium but there are a few bits that do my OCD right in.

Tom, why doesn’t the Gwladys Street have the famous Leitch crisscross trusses?

I think he went away from the exposed criss-cross truss balconies for his last generation of designs in the 1930s. The East Stand at WHL was a similar vertical bar design. I could be wrong but I think the diagonal strap truss is still there, but just covered by planking in his later designs.

Yep that's the one. On the near side at least there's steps which means your slightly away from it but on the North side your right up against it and it's definitely elevated higher than the normal seats.

Trying to get a handle on what you guys are saying here, because this kind of geometry does interest me!

Is it essentially that the purple wall is going to get in the way?

If so, is it much worse than the standard vomitory wall in green? I'm not sure it will be... isn't it just that little projection at the front that is different? Or am I missing something or on the wrong track entirely?

We won't know until one of us sits in those seats, but if it's the above I don't think it'll be a problem. Surely they've thought about this? They'll have automated tools that will be able to check sightlines from every seat as part of the build process.

Edit: Or is it the panelling in yellow?

Panelling in yellow we were talking about mate. Not too bad in the near side as there's a gap with the steps. But on the other side it's right up against the media section.

Ah, so the circled bit here?

They could probably remove the panelling to help on those end few seats, couldn't they?

Doesn't seem like a fundamental or unsolvable issue... and to be honest, it's nice to be worried about a small handful of seats being potentially dodgy rather than half a stadium's worth like at present!
