Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

…I’m not sure that’s the case, it’s been an absolute shambles. Some clubs can’t bring the best talent into the league because they are being financially restricted, can’t see how that was ever the plan. They know it’s been an almighty f-up.
Here's an argument for you all.

Has PSR worked?

Bournemouth, Brighton, Fulham, Brentford, Palace all seen as some well ran clubs, some have been 2 or 3 divisions below in hte past 4 or 5 seasons.
Does that give a blueprint for Ipswich or other forwardly mobile clubs trying to push on?

Probably the worst ran clubs over the past few years are ourselves and Utd, 13th & 16th

We wont see Leicester for a few years after they go down this season id imagine, is that because they spent over what they could for a good few years?

You look at Der Red's, they have had transfer windows when they havent bought, just for the sake of buying. I can only think of Nunez as a huge mistake over £35m, again something that someone like United haven't adhered too

We all talk about how poorly ran the club has been under Moshiri, so does the evidence prove that poorly ran clubs get punished?

Nottingham Forest 3rd... points deducted last year.... so are they the best worst run club or the worst best run club?

Thelwell and the Friedkins will be parting ways soon.

Moyes picks his player's not super Kev..... One look at Beto and I guarantee Moyes just shook his head and said that our Kev was not too be trusted. He's probably turned down about 5 suggestions from Thelwell already.

Moyes will be working with a DOF and not have free reign like the old days.

Who this is after the summer is upto TFG but I wouldn't shocked if Thelwell remains.

The rs have wasted a fortune on average players. When was the last time they bought a top quality player? But they can afford to make mistakes thanks to their following of global happy clappers. That's what makes it unfair. Otherwise Bournemouth and Brighton would be the top 2 as they've been the best run clubs over the last 3 years.

mid table? maybe but they were top 6 two years ago, and are currently 4 points off a champions league place

Welbeck is in the form of his life, Joao Pedro is a quality player as is Rutter. Half their bench would liekly get in our starting XI, we are way below a mid table side currently

Same weird thing some posters have said about Lindstrom that he couldnt get in Napoli side so must be something amiss. Napoli who won a Scudetto and are regulars in the champions league ...
So you want to loan him for four months, and let him cut his teeth at Everton for the benefit of Brighton?

The PL will say it’s worked because no clubs have gone into, or been under serious threat of administration. Most of the participants in the league will argue it hasn’t because they’re constantly operating with a hand tied behind their backs.

The likes of Brighton et al are on borrowed time because the clubs that were paying the massive fees that sustained their model will either fall afoul of the rules or come so close that they can’t afford those kinds of fees anymore.

It’s a horrible, pointless system and needs sending to the moon.

I’m assuming no signings.

The clickbait articles give the impression that we are active in the market but I wouldn’t be surprised if we are not, other than cancelling Broja’s loan.

Broja needs to be replaced.

Can't be going with just Beto and DCL for last 15 games as all it takes is one injury and then you're gambling on players out of position upfront as we saw in the 2023 run in.

Chermiti also unproven at this level and been injured all season.

Is Nuamah on or off? Been linked to him since the summer and don't think the club have dismissed it so I think he'll turn up on next week aswell.

I think Brighton will sell him in the summer if they get a decent bid so loan to Ipswich is just to see him starting most weeks and get him in the shop window that way.

It's a bit odd people writing him off as by that criteria Ndiaye not playing much at Marseille was similar. For position Ipswich are in someone of his quality is as good a loan signing as they can make.
