Biggest Judas who left Everton

….never really bothers me when players leave but McMahon left a sour taste.
I felt the same about McMahon. Like you, I've never been too bothered about players going, although I felt Rooney could have stayed a couple more years, and I don't like what the departure of the likes of Onana, Gordon, and, in all likelihood, Branthwaite says about the club. The one departure that really had an impact on me, as a boy, admittedly, was Ken McNaught. At the time, I just couldn't understand why anyone would want to leave Everton.

I don't blame any player for leaving Everton since the late 80s. Why should anybody stay at a crap club that never challenges for honours if better clubs are interest in them?

I think with the advent of social media and being able to see these kids living the life you could only dream of it’s a lot harder to get annoyed. Someone’s offering me a 75%+ pay rise and I get a massive lump sum right away just for putting pen to paper? Not even a decision, boyhood club or not.

The boyhood club thing.
I'm guessing, unless you've played at top level, it's completely different from being a fan.

For me it will always be Barmby… he was literally thereafter referred to as ‘Judas Barmby’ - but I’m just a bit too young to remember the McMahon transfer (I do remember him laying for the RS and being booed and heckled though)… I’d put that Rat second.

Gordon third, Barkley fourth. Both did shabithouse tactics to get their prices down/delay the transfer, but Claire Balding came out after and professed he was a lifelong red, so that tips it for me.

I mean it was obviously a huge issue that affected the squad going into the match
I'm sure it didn't help but we got humped by Arsenal 7-0 a season or two before that, we always did badly there under Moyes.

He shouldn't have played Lescott for me, but I don't think he downed tools or anything either. We were just rubbish on the day.

McMahon came down here to manage Perth Glory.
Donkey lasted half a season before being given the arse. Played his useless son as well over other players.
