Prices are notoriously higher in Jan than Summer with people not wanting to let players leave. If there's a CM we like we will wait till the Summer when he should be cheaper. Just common sense really.
We are well stocked in lots of positions - we have 3 RBs, have played Gana, Garner and O'Brien there as well.

We have 3 strikers in DCL, Beto, Chermiti. Sherrif on the bench, N'Diaye to cover.

Genuine question though to those shouting about McNeil doing well and being the number ten, he just isn't that creative, yeah he's decent on set pieces, a decent crosser too but he's that one footed then central everything becomes focused on one side as he can only play that way - he also isn't particularly skillful in terms of threading great passes through. He needs too much time on the ball for me - has to switch it to his only foot he has, and stuff becomes pretty telegraphed.
The biggest issue with McNeil (or any of our current options) as a 10 is none of them like to make late runs into the box and get on the end of crosses. If you think Cahill or Fellaini this was their MO.. I think Moyes will want some power in the middle and creativity either side. No idea who’s available and fits that profile though.

I'd let three of our tiny tiny squad leave tomorrow if someone was to bid.

but i also agree with what youre saying (generally)

Yes we do have a number of players as you say but the quality is so poor.
let's see how poor these players are after a couple of weeks working for Moyes.
I have said before we have a lot of internationals in that squad and are better than what Dyche was getting from them.

Look at Mykolenko and Lindstrom yesterday proves this point and Moyes has only been here a week.

Dyche did make me laugh when he said he has made some of these players into ten times their values 😂

I don't think I am. Your argument against signing a CM is that we already have numbers in that position.

We have numbers in every position with the exception of LB/RW. By your logic, we should wait until the summer to buy a CF and a RB.

Numbers don't equate to quality. We have 4-5 decent CM's in the squad.

We have 1 left-back who is crap, no actual good RB, and only 2 fit strikers who can't score.

Don't care what numbers there are for those positions it's not the same and if you can't see that then... yeh.

*edit I’ve just thought of one (not available due to his current form, and no doubt highly divisive choice) but Scott McTominay would have been a Moyes type signing for this position I think.

The question is more do we look to recruit now for cm or wait until the summer.

In the summer we definitely need at least 1 more likely 2 in, and that's assuming we re-sign Gueye on a one year deal which I think is likely.

Comes down to simple availability and if we have players we know we can get now compared to knowing they can only be got in the summer.

Right this second it's not the biggest need we have, come summer though that needs is maybe the single top priority.

If Gueye did leave, Mangala loan expires we are left in the centre with Garner whose shown worrying signs of picking up pretty long term injuries and Tim - whose only played a handful of senior games and similarly has just had a long term injury himself.

Top priority in January with 2 weeks to go to stay in the league: striker, winger, full back

Top priority in Summer: centre mid, wherever else
