Shocking re-branding effort by the new owners after investing heavily imo. Also an ideal chance get a solid DoF in and reform what's been a failing club for a few decades with a bright future in mind and then they opt for Moyes.

How good has he been at laying foundations and structure at the clubs he's managed ? How have any of them fared when he left ? I'd accept a 6month contract at arms length and with a token January budget with DoF oversight begrudgingly. Longer than that, GTF.

Think you're taking it a little too much to the heart mate haha. It's football.

Oh it makes no logical sense I know

I’d actually been enjoying not caring much since they brought in dyche. Accepting what he was and not giving a crap about how we performed so long as we stay up

But they sack him and wake me up for an hour just to make one of the worst moves possible imho

It could definitely be worse—they could’ve brought back Big Sam! Moyes might not be the most exciting choice, but his track record of steady top-half finishes with limited resources shows he knows how to handle tough situations.

I don’t see this as a big long-term solution, but that’s okay because it doesn’t have to be. If the contract is only until 2027, it gives the club time to stabilize and reassess the long-term vision without rushing into another gamble.

Our recent history of constant changes hasn’t worked, so bringing in someone with experience and familiarity might help settle things. Moyes has proven he can deliver consistency, and if he’s backed properly, this could be the foundation we need before aiming higher.

Agreed to an extent, but he was backed at Utd and Wham and got them the same results as us, as that's his ceiling. Not a bad thing, but not anything to be amazingly excited about.

I concede(d several times today hah) that we need that sort of stability, new stadium and all, but it also depends on how we do, as he's also failed at Sland and the 1st time at West Ham was also quite poor.

He has been a relatively successful midtable manager during his career though and we need that any way we can get it sadly.

I'm still not okay with it if we've given him a 2.5 years contract. 1.5 with an option for an extension should be the maximum, depending on what spending TFG want to do, but that's a different topic in a way.

Absolutely, Moyes showed at United why West Ham and Everton are his peak, where he overall did a good job, 13 top 10 finishes in the prem show that he surely is a good manager, but not a top manager for teams like Arsenal, City etc...

Like Dyche showed at Everton that his peak is at max relegation battle.

The fact he's saying our from the word go is the right optics. Dyche always spoke about the club as though he was an outsider. Moyes actually cares beyond the money or is at least clever enough to pretend he does.
That won't work this time though.

We know what he is, he is just another manager. Get on with the job.

Interesting to see the difference in opinions here. You younger lot will have blue tinted glasses on for Moyes as he was your first manager. Us older lot who saw the the great 80's sides know better.
Doesn’t change the facts. Everton were screwed when Moyes came in for the first time. The only way that team were going back to the success of the 80s was in a Delorean

Completely agree with you I would have given him a 6 month contract, only issue is he wouldn’t have signed it. He knew he was in a strong negotiation position I think and would have wanted a longer contract or he wouldn’t have signed.

The united job was and has been a poisoned chalice for anyone who has had it, to follow Ferguson was a bad choice by him, but how many people would have said no to that job when it was offered. And I think he did an ok job at Wham, won a trophy but the fans hated him and that’s fair enough that’s there club.

All that any of us can really do now is watch and hope he does what I think he can and steady this ship, I think we all agree on one thing and that’s this club is exhausting, some mid table obscurity wouldn’t be a bad thing for a minute!
